Remember Hurricane Ike last year??? Hit the isle of Galveston hard!  Saw a photo of the wave as it crashed against the seawall. There's a monument to the victim of the 1900 hurricane. You can see the monument here in this slideshow:

Here's my snapshot. Titled: Galveston's 1900 Hurricane Memorial. It looks better if you click on the image.

Well it's close to it IMHO. 😉

I will be closing the entries on Sunday night, May 31 at 23:59 Renderosity time (US Central) and the voting will begin in this thread.  We have 3 pages now, so be sure to look at all of them 😄  More instructions will be given on Sunday.

BLACKS, WHITES, SHADES OF GRAY

LAWS … sacred ‘THOU SHALT NOTS’ of centuries

Conveniently condemning evils for the sake

Of ruling clans or holy creeds all set

To sanctify who lives, who’s saved, who’s damned.

LAWS … reason’s icy logic proving how

Existence ‘BIG BANGED” into being; how

We count the DNA of who and what

We are, our astral physics bending time

And space upon themselves extinguishing

Tomorrow’s hope of numbering its stars.

COLORS …

Demonic blacks in inquisitions thrust

On tortured nightmares with no grace to grasp

Truth.  Our angelic white perfections are

Mirages out of touch with facts.  God’s most

Beloved saints wear crowns of tragic thorns,

The holiest among us bear Job’s doubts;

Not even devils can escape their hells.

It’s grays … those ecstasies of ashes make

Life bearable: remembering a rose

Perfume that haunted springtime’s fleeting breaths,

Electric comets taunting darkness with

Men strutting on its sterile moon, the first

Embrace with flesh before duration turned

A rapture in habits … jaded now

And bored to death with time.  But music still

Infects my soul and resurrected thoughts

Of moments gone encourage me to shout:

“I’VE LIVED AND JOYOUSLY ALIVE!”

this one i posted in my gallery in colour - i thought it might be nice in b/w too as the moebius band shows there is more than two possibilities, some even quite unexpected. lots of fine entries this month, will be hard to choose!

It's wonderful to see some new faces this month!  We have three pages this month, so be sure to look at them all.  It's time to let the voting begin!  The voting will be in this thread, after this entry.  You get to choose your 3 favorite entries, giving each of them 3, 2 or 1 points.  Remember, you are choosing an entry, not an artist.  If someone has posted more than one entry, you need to indicate which is your choice.

Your vote should look something like this:

Black - "White" - 3 points
Shades - "Gray" - 2 points
Mono - "Tone" - 1 point

Feel free to nominate Honorable Mentions or make comments.

I think, ThunderStone, that you mean **mcw1917 Flowers.

I appreciate the vote, but I think it was a mistake. :)

Just to clarify, I forgot to put a title on mine. Let's call it "Retro-plane", in case anyone does decide to vote for it.

Sorry about the confusion.
