Subject: Pose able prop vs Pose able figure

I am working on an interior scene. I have several parts to this, doors that opens and other movable parts. Now I am wonder if it is better to save it as a prop or as a figure or does it matter? I have it already saved as a figure.

If there's rotation involved, you need it to be either a posable figure, or a series of parented props with their centre points adjusted accordingly so the hinges appear in the right place.

Sliding doors etc. which involve only linear motion can be done as a morphing prop.

Actually this prop has a sliding door, and an elevator.

I'd suggest a posable figure (with bends off on the joints). Even though a morphing prop is possible, the posable figure is more versatile - for example, you could hide/show the elevator or door body parts as needed.
It might even be useful to designate the four walls and the ceiling as separate body parts - removable (hidable) walls are a great benefit for interior scenes.
That actually mirrors interior sets used in the television/film industry - retractable/removable wals for easy camera access.

The pen is mightier than the sword. But if you literally want to have some impact, use a typewriter

Also a posable figure can be deleted with one action where otherwise you have to delete all props each by each in case you will unload the scenery.

One more item in favor of a figure: you can apply pose files for motion and
materials directly to it.   If you rig it as a prop, then the user will need to
have a figure somewhere in the scene before any pose files will work.

Hacking the cr2 is useful here; you can set the scale dials to "hide," and make selected translate dials visible.  With the dial re-named and limits set the end result can be quite elegant.

Hi svdl, i was checking out your cool freebies.  Does the spawn character script work on TY2?

(I had to make a morph to flatten her glutes for a mermaid tail I made for her.)

Sorry, it doesn't. It's geared towards figures that have PBM_CC and PBM_DC injection channels, and TY2 doesn't have those, AFAIK.

When I have the time, I'll make a version that'll work on figures without injection channels too.

I was wondering what all those PBMCC were for, H3 has them all over the place. 

After I save my H3 or A3 character to a full body morph,
can I delete those PBMCCs without breaking the character?  Will it speed them up?
