and original "terrain with volumetric nebula" but the material tweaked :)

Sirenia,
cheers! :)

quick gudie on thius but NOTE, it's very finicky and the settings for OVERALL DENSITY need tweaked to suit the scene

I looked the settings over, and tried to figure it out for Vue 6.  Here's one with a terrain.  Still had to use distance field.

And here's an attempt with a sphere.  I am assuming that one of the functions you used is a Vue7 feature, not available in 6.  I notice the edges do not fade out quite right in mine

Redtrek,
hey they came out cool! :)
hm what feature isn't in V6? bit busy to load up and check at moment :p
(still have V6 on this rig as I've upgraded)

Thanks for sharing your know how on this , Silverblade!

Looks promising! Certainly a lot of potential with this volumetric nebula approach...

Still, I will probably stick to my 2D approach, since I am getting neat results while render times are kept within a reasonable range.

Mine don 't come out so good. I seem to have this blue-ish glow all over the place.

Oh... ignore my last post will ya.
I was doing it in the 'standard mode' and not in the 'volumetric mode' atmosphere model.

I just wanted you all to show AGAIN how stupid i can be sometimes LOL !!  ;-)

It is working great now :-)

Eonite
my pleasure bud :)
oh, 2D, using a plane? intrigued

Sirenia
well, I'm just as silly as you then as I was using standard atmospheres ! ;)
never thought to use Volumetric atmosphere, lol! need to test that, you may hvae fiund a neat trick :)
I just hand tweak the nebulas, the density/fuzziness needs lot of work for each scene, usually.

Hi all, i tried one too...

Not sure what you guys are looking for..

I tried it with a material combined from a volumatric with a hypertexture on a sphere

Additional info: Standard atmosphere.

Silverblade, did you try cloud layers also?

I did a quick test with bitmap driven cloudlayers, then you can create any shape, depth or multiple layers.

Here is a quicky inspired on the "Pillars of Creation"  Just a rough try.. but i think you can get good results when you start adjusting the quality, roughness, feathers etc..  just making advantage of the cloud settings at you're wishes.

Just draw it in a paint program and use that in the function editor to create any cloud in you're shape, turn of repeat so you get a single cloud,  Point the camera to the sky.

Cherryman your nebula 's look fantastic man ! This is as far as i can get it (see picture)

Oh and as far as that blue-ish thing from my first example, well... i think it 's some kind of bug in the preset atmosphere that come with Vue, the one with the stars in it. If i pre-load that atmosphere, it comes in all blue on it 's own !**
