I additionally support the following suggestions:

Quote - I not only support this petition, but have some real concerns with Renderosity's policy of flagging all free items as "licensed for non-commerial use only," even when the artist making & offering the free item (which Renderosity is using to attract customers & advertisers) clearly intends otherwise & states so in either/both the readme & the blurb prepared for the freebie page.  This is deliberately misrepresenting the items involved.

Quote - 1) Put adverts on the Rendo hosted freebies to cover cost of hosting.

  1. Put the links to external hosted sites back to the way they were.
  2. Put some sort of identifying icon next to the item, like the "Renderosity exclusive" icon in the marketplace so people have the choice of whether to download from Rendo (through all those ads) or not.

I also think they need to re-enable the right click menu to open these detail pages in a new tab or window. 

Quote - We, the undersigned, are members of the online graphics community known as Renderosity (www.renderosity.com). While we welcome the recent decision to provide on-site hosting of members' free downloads (known as freestuff), we call upon the site's administrators to reconsider the recent changes made to the operation of the freestuff section, namely:

  1. Retain the option to link to an external download site, for new freebies as well as existing ones.

  2. Open external links in a normal sized window, not a reduced one.

  3. Give the poster some control over what advertising is shown on the download page. For example, if the freebie is an add-on for a Renderosity marketplace item, that item should be one of those advertised. Additionally, items could be chosen from the poster's public wishlist, if they have one; or from their favourite merchants list.

3a) We realise and accept that advertising is necessary to fund the costs involved, but submit that it will be more effective when properly targeted.

3b) Those who choose to fund their own download costs should not be obliged to have intrusive and inappropriate advertising included with their offerings.

I find this petition to be redundant when there's nothing stopping you from placing a link to your external downloads in the notes section.

My comment was me saying I don't support the petition. And as you are not a mod here, leave the bossing people around to them please. Temp fix or not. The fact remains. It totally removed the issue of "I'm being forced to host here". You're not being forced to do any such thing.
