Subject: MarketPlace clearance

Hi!

I am just curious on how long an item stays in the clearance section before it is removed from the site?
And, what does it take for an item to get back to the regular marketplace (amount of purchases?)

Regards / Jonny

Hi!

I've wondered about this myself once, and found the answer in the FAQ here: www.renderosity.com/mod/service/index.php

Basically, it says the item will be removed from the store if it has not had any sales for 60 days, otherwise it will stay in the store until it stops selling, or that if the vendor requests for the item to be pulled.

In actuality, in my own experience its not very re-assuring, and its still a very 50/50 gamble whether to predict if an item will be there next time you can buy something. Lots of times I ask the vendor how long will it be staying in clearance before its removed, or has it had any sales in the last 60 days (the set expiration term). Unfortunately the usual answer is either "I do not know" or "I don't know how to tell / check". I always assumed that the vendor just doesn't know how to check or doesn't know how long it will remain in the store.

The caveat here is that its pretty much whichever items you buy that is marked on clearance will be in the store for another 60 days, but the self "beat your head against the wall" is when you pick and choose which to buy now and hope the rest will be there next time is when you come back next time (when you can afford it, like a month later) and find out the item is now gone. This is the frustrating experience i've had many times. It really smarts since theres no reference or way of knowing / to make that informed purchase decision, and it feels like a life or death gamble since most of us usually can only afford to buy whats within our often limited spending budget.

Its almost like a secret lottery. You know (or hope) that people are buying clearance items, but you don't know which ones people are buying, so you caat your choice of items into the cart and hope for the best that the ones that you left behind will still be available later.

I really truly wish the clearance term of 60 days coule be longer, as well or at the very least have a marked expiration date listed on the product page. One that perhaps could auto-update in the event of people purchasing the item thus the date would get set back to another 60 days. Along the same token, should a vendor wish to pull the item, it should still be in the store for 30 days before its gone, and be marked as such perhaps the expiry date listed in red when this happens.

It would also be nice to somehow have the expirey date listed in the clearance store item link, as well as in the wishlist.

A Sort by Clearance date when from "soon" to "later" would be helpful. This could also help inform the buyer to allow prioritizing his/her purchases, and drastically reduce missing out on items by "pure random chance".

Hi Spacer_01!

Thx, I have been here a while but never noticed the FAQ :-)

So if i understand this correctly, every purchase made of a specific item in the clearance section grants that item another 60 days in the clearance section?

What does it take for an item to get off the clearance section and in to the "normal" marketplace?

Regards / Jonny

Your welcome. I've been here a while also, more lurking or gallery posting than participation, and I still learn something new once in a while. :)

Yeah, thats pretty much it, if I understand it correctly. Keep in mind, I'm not one of the staff, just a fellow customer like you are with a passion for the poser hobby ;)

Thats one thing I don't know. Perhaps one of the staff can still answer that. Or maybe even a vendor that has that happen.

I just personally feel its a tragic loss should any of the older products here hit a bit of a slump with no sales for 2 months gets put onto clearance. Textures might age a bit but meshes don't as new textures or shaders can always be applied and make the item renewed.

I fully agree with you and i appreciate your answers!

I missed out the standalone character "Misaki" by "3dCAT" and "lynnjonathan" just because i waited to long.

Neither of them are vendors here anymore and ive tried to contact 3dcat (whom created the mesh) on various adresses found on the web but to no luck.

Im a sucker for original standalone characters and i feel like its a big loss when they dissapear from the market / web.

Quote - what does it take for an item to get back to the regular marketplace (amount of purchases?)

I am not a staff member, but I know the answer to this question. Once an item hits clearance, it is never returned to the main marketplace. It will stay in clearance until the vendor requests it's deletion or until it is deleted from lack of sales.

Hi All,

I am just seeing this thread so I will try to address all the questions regarding the clearance.

An item enters into clearance once it goes 90 without a sale. Once an item is in clearance it stays inside of clearance as long as it sells within 60 days. If an item reaches 60 days without a sale it is then removed from the store.

The only way for an item that is in clearance to be returned to the actual store is for it to be updated with all new promo images, text and 50% new content.

As far as Spacer's idea of having a marked expiration date on the page is a good idea. I can present this to the team and see if I can get the programmer to find time :-)

I hope this helps.

Thank you Preston.
Some sort of expiration date would be fabulous if possible :)

Hi!

Thank you all for your input and answers, im glad you offerd your time and knowledge.

I do however wish that clearence items wouldnt be romeved when the sales are poor, better to put them in some permanent low price section (if its ok with the seller).

Regards / Jonny
