Vue 7 Infinite and XStream were already on sale last year when Vue 7 first came out. They may go back on sale before Vue 8 comes out, but there are no Guarantees that it will.
Quote - I have a feeling they need the money bad even with all the Hollywood Publicity received lately.
I must have missed that. What publicity do you refer to?
Quote - I didn't buy into Infinite just to side/downgrade to a crippled version.
If you are referring to Pro Studio being a "Crippled Version" you could not be More Wrong. I have acheived some Amazing results with it and I don't have some of the bugs and headaches the higher versions do. Any specific version is only as crippled as the person using it.

Well, yesterday I broke down and ordered Vue 7 Studio Pro "boxed version". Including shipping it costs $210 and should be here NLT next Friday. ---extremely professional, they got it to Federal Espress within a few hours after my ordering it. Since I really enjoyed Vue 5 Esprit, this should be a definite upgrade especially taking advantage of my new Quad capabilities. Jan
Yes, with a QuadCore you are going to Love It and now that you will have Pro Studio you will become completely addicted to Ecosystems and Light Tune. I have to pay an online bill then I am hopping over to E-On and get the download version of 7 Pro Studio!!! Yee Haw!!!!!!

--sure glad to hear it! I sort of got hooked on Vue 3 Esprit (came on a 3DWorld Magazine CD), got the VUE5/Poser 5 bundle and enjoyed it--Jan
Quad cores, heck I was just reading about the current 8xcore bun fight between the Power 7 and the Nthalem-EX, one dual threaded per core the other quad threaded.
V7 complete if run at 64 bit will be able to keep up but its scary how fast the CPUs are growing, 8 cores times 4 threads, thats 32 threads.
Ok, true these are not due till next year but thats only a few months away.
Does Vue's renderer use the excess threads or do you have to switch off the multithreading?
Man I still remember ways back linking a couple a 2nd hand PC's together with olf V4's rendercow, my single i7's got more power now.
Vue Infinite and I think complete?? will use ever CPu and thread you cna throw at them! ;)
I THINK they added unlimited CPU support to Studio too??

I don't know if 7 Pro Studio has unlimited CPU support or not, but I do know it loaded itself into my 64 bit Program files automatically and it uses all 4 of my cores and compared to my DualCore, this Quad, (my old DualCore rebuilt into a Quad), is Smokin Fast and I am a Very, Very Happy Camper 8^D

THAT'S what I like to hear, automatic loading, not hassle, uses all the cores (I have a Quad too). Probably uses RAM above 3 Gigabytes too. Well Friday is the day it should arrive. Jan

Wel it probably does use more than 3Gigs of RAM, I have not been checking, but I did accidently populate a scene with over 700,000,000 trees 8^O and it kept on running,............ a bit slow LOL . I was scaling to 0.01 and accidently made it 0.001, WOW, it's good to know it worked anyway!!!!!

Well, I broke down and got the Downloaded version of Pro for 99, but I am having a bit of trouble. I have the current version no patches needed, but every time I launch Pro I have to sign on to Cornucopia and synchronize my activation. And, when I don’t the prog goes into trial version.
I haven’t searched the form yet, anyone got a fix?
Go back to Cornicopia and in your Account there will be an activation number, Write it down and do the internet activation. Then Open Vue and in that first box there are 3 lines that you have to file out. The activation code goes in the 3rd one, that's it your done.

You said you synchronized, now just go to your Account page at Cornucopia and you can find the synchronizing activity code there, then put it in when you launch Vue in the first pop-up screen in the 3rd line, that's all you have to do and you will not have to synchronize ever again.

Thanks Thelby, but I don't have the activation screen. I had a error during installation and when i clicked on the error the screen disappeared and reinstallation does not bring it back. The software has been registered and I have the activation codes and nowhere to put them.
Thanks again.
Hmm, did you do a complete uninstall and then try to reinstall it
You see I got the same errors and screens. on both my installs. When I tried to activate the second computer, Vue told me that I had it installed on another machine and that I would have to synchronize each time I switched machines, Eeeegads, but all I needed was the Activation Code from Cornucopia. Once I kicked that on to the synchronize screen on the 3rd line everything has been OK and no more synchronize screen.
Here is a link to my error message that I posted in another thread that No one could help me with: http://www.renderosity.com/mod/forumpro/showthread.php?thread_id=2781270

Yeah, I did a registry clean and total drive delete of everything Vue and e-on.
The problem is I don’t have the three lines on the Vue activation screen anymore to input any code. It is gone even after two installs.
After searching the FAQs I found a short indicating that if you did not fill-in those two lines and hit the big button, or had an interruption, a Null registration, or incomplete registration would be sent to the server and logged as valid. The effect is that the activation cannot find a valid registration and as a result the three lines for Activation will not refresh. You can delete and try to reinstall the Registration, but you cannot get rid of the current Activation Code. Since I can’t wipe their system clean, I can’t get the activation screen back so Tech will have to try to straighten it out.
I am somewhat surprised, I do a lot of Web Forms, and a Required Field would help to stop such an occurrence.
Life goes on, I have the 7 Install codes for the next upgrade. Staying current was my primary concern.
Thanks for all of your help, you got me pointed in the right direction.

I know I've read everyone is doing that, but I don't have to right click and run as admin on my VIsta system. I can do that if I want to, but I can also double click it and it opens just fine. I am running Vista Home Premium 64 and I am the Administrator on this machine and no one else gets on it.
I really think the problem above is something else that could be easily fixed, but I will not get into that.

The $99 Download for Pro Studio I got yesterday was version 7.21-04 Build 39389 and it stated no other patches were needed.
Thelby, after five more uninstalls and reinstalls last night, about 2:00 A.M. in the morning I finally got an Activation Screen, wouldn’t you know without the Synchronize button. I put the codes in and kept hitting the Enter key anyway. After about 10 minutes of watching the screen sit there, everything disappeared.
Vue kept dialing in and so I uninstalled, cleaned, and reinstalled twice more and now it finally loads without Synchronizing.
OMG, I am keeping my fingers crossed.
Really all I can think is a Registry Value got installed at the first INSTALL that was not supposed to be there. I am very adapt at finding those things in the Registry and cleaning them out, but I never recomment or influence anyone to do that. I am glad you have it running. ; ^ )

Very nice work there SilverBade! I'm still trying to get used to the idea that I don't have the restrictions with Vue that I have with Poser where anything more than a few models in a scene brings my PC to a halt. :)
Hi Mouser, If I understand, you do not have any version of VUE and that you are getting the boxed version via UPS from Oregon. If that is the case, all updates (builds) should be included on the DVD. E-on has a current BETA build that you need to be registered to download. IMHO don't download it unless you want to be a BETA tester, it could be loaded with bugs. Wait until it becomes mainstream. Jan
Thanks Plutom, I decided to steal my Iron Will and not buy, but then I rememeberd I dont have any willpower and promptly purchased it.
Now of course that I have purchased V7ProStudio, complete and Infinate will of course be released on an even bigger discount just to tick me off.
All I have to do is be patient and wait for it to arrive, yes I have as much patience as willpower.
UrbanArmitage,
ta! :)
oh I know, Poser narks me right off with it's limits :/ how damn silly is it on a PC with 8 gigs of RAM, Poser gets render insufficent memory errors?! Bah! :p
Poser 4 to 7 are only 32 bit and has really bad handling iirc so only sees about a gig or so on 64 bit PCs or some such. I think Poser 8s renderer is 64 bit?
You can throw huge amounts into Vue scenes but optimizing them helps a lot, for that pic I did I used lots of tricks ot keep the total number of materials and textures down ;)
at a distance you won't notice much difference betwen 5 different types of Poser iron textures for example, so instead use a Vue procedural for all of them! 1 material instead of 5 and no texture maps taking resources :)

Mouser, one of the neat things is that you can track your package all the way from Oregon to your home city. You probably have a UPS tracking code now. All you have to do is copy and paste the tracking website's info and it comes up with dates, times, and location of your order. Mine is somewhere between Memphis and Montgomery now or probably here and ready to be loaded on the local van. Jan
Well gang, just received my copy of Vue7 pro and the accompanying CD extra which contails .vobs for space, aircraft, animals etc. However, can't use it quite yet since the computer I loaded it on is not connected to the internet and as stated above, one needs the synchronization code to activate it for use on that computer. Good thing I requested from AOL a software Vista capable CD last Tuesday--He stated that it would take about five days to receive it maybe less, it may come tomorrow, or Monday. Then I can switch from this computer to the new one or perhaps have both connected up. Jan
Hi folks just got Vue7Pro Studio up and running. This is what you must do:
When the activation screen appears IF you notice that the logo for VUE7Pioneer comes up that means you must close and open it as the administrator. Doing that will show the VUE7Pro Studio.
Next the Serial number that comes with the CD is NOT the one you use to activate the darn thing.
The one that you use is in the Http address, the first line just above where you enter your name and below that the famous activation code (which you don't have at the moment).
IF after getting do the proper section of E-onsoftware/register, it doesn't automatically show up-that is the one that you must write down and it is a long one that goes way beyond the space at E-ons "serial number" input . You will see the famous INST- after that begin putting in that complicated monster. When you manage to type in all them letters and numbers without making a mistake, you will get the activation code. Carefully copy that monster string into the space where it says activation code.
If you don't use the administration function, you get the freebie Vue7 Pioneer and if you use its http "serial number, you will get an activation code alright, but when you enter it, it will say Invalid activation code. However, you are now registered as a Vue7Pioneer user--Gad
You do not have to have the computer that contains the Vue7 software connected to the internet, It can be a stand alone. Just do the above.
Uninstalling and reinstalling the product isn't going to help, it installed just fine the first time.
Found this out by trial and error----eergh---Jan
I'm testing the trial of Vue Pro studio 7, and when I' calling the help (F1 or "Apercu") from the menu, Vue launch the PDF but when I quit Apercu (the PDF reader), then Vue displays the rainbow wheel.
I forced it to quit and now every time I call the help (F1) from the menu, I get the rainbow wheel.
Actually I have the same problem with Vue 6, they just don't fix it ...
So before viewing the help, you have to save your work because Vue will hang, great software !
um why not use Acrobat PDF instead, see if it's the pdf reader to blame? :)

Hi Plutom, I'm in Australia so I'll probably be waiting a bit and thats my tough luck.
I cannot guess what crime you commited to have to go through all that crap you described, just to install a legit software package.
I swear, software pirates everywhere are just gut laughing at us suckers, it sounds as if E-on are kicking you in the head and calling it service.
Thanks for going through the pain and warning others though, it is apreciated.
I dont know how many weeks it took before I could get V5I working on 64bit windows. I was kinda hoping E-on had got a bit smarter but they just dont seem to learn from their mistakes (or even care).
Quote - Thanks for going through the pain and warning others though, it is apreciated.
It really is No Problem to install Vue. Many 3D apps use some sort of Activation Code or Locking number or like Lightwave uses a Dongle Switch. Now do you want E-On to go to that?

Vue 7 ProStudio automatically installs itself into the 64 bit Program Files on a 64 bit system. Only if you do not want it to be 64 bit then you install it into the x86 Program Files, but why would anyone want to do that? The install process sounds complex, but really it is not.

Quote - um why not use Acrobat PDF instead, see if it's the pdf reader to blame? :)
I'm on MacOS and the Apercu program is the PDF reader that is bundled with the system.
I never feel the need to install Acrobat.
I'm sure Apercu is not the problem because Shade (and many other programs) has the same help menu that opens a PDF and all is fine with Apercu.
Actually, it seems that Vue wakes up upon several minutes after showing the rainbow wheel ...
One of the reasons why I had the problem was that I was installing it on a stand alone computer, that at that time, was not connected to the web. Folks that have internet connections may have no problems-that is the reason why I capitalized the word IF.
I'm just getting the handle on the eco-system and it is very powerful, you can make your own planets via editing the plants thereby creating your own.
You can even make your own planets, throw them way in the background, do a few more things with them so that the clouds appear in front (they have a great tut on that in the .pdf manual). Manual is very comprehensive and detailed--they did an excellent job on it. Jan
Boy I am so jazzed!
...my box is on the way!!!! :)
After wanting to get a more expanded version of vue (*and did not want to mess with pioneer!) I could afford Vue7 Pro now. At last it opens the door to better priced future slidegrades and that, in and of itself, was worth the cash!
I wonder if my only having a 32 bit system is an issue of concern? It does not effect P7 at all, and I have 4G's of ram... Altho it doesn't sound like a power machine, I do large hi res/dpi renders and have not experienced any severe or disabling issues so far (*4 years). Any advice?
Yaaaaaaaaa!!!! dances little happy circles! :D
