Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Feb 02 7:25 pm)
Hm this is odd. I KNOW I answered this thread but the reply is gone...
Anyway.. If you can do the texturing yourself, I can easily model a sombrero for you. I actually made one some time back when I planned a mexican character. Just never finished it.. but I can dig that up if you're interested?

You just can't put the words "Poserites" and "happy" in the same sentence - didn't you know that? LaurieA
Using Poser since 2002. Currently at Version 11.1 - Win 10.
Ah it wasn't me being silly. You actually posted this twice.
Don't.
If people have an answer they'll see it the first time or not at all.

Holy cow, I posted it twice? When I saw the screen with my original post, I thought that I hadn't posted it. I must have back buttoned it :D
I dont' know how to texture, I'm afraid : ( I'm next to useless, but I've been trying to learn modeling in Hex without success heh.
Would it be easy to just make it brown in the Material Room? : )
Really? Mmm...well...;)
Here's the deal...UVMapping is basically 'spray-painting' an object so it looks more realistic. It's tedious and essential (you're going to have to put textures on it somewhere, regardless).
The model is free...i can give that out to anyone. However...I got the textures from Deviant Art (Bad Pakled! No Donut!...;), and they're paranoid over there about reuse (I'm supposed to email each creator of each texture with an email, with a link back to the original pic...or there will be trouble) Mainly it was an experiment to see if I can make better freebies. A deluge awaits 'rosity once I figure out sharp edges and good textures in Poser..;0
I #$%^ at texturing (been using Bryce planes and some lighting to make most of mine), but if you want the object, just IM me with an email address. If someone knows some royalty-nagware-free textures like straw, and bandanas, let me know, and I'll just re-UVMap.
Or, if you are good with Photoshop (I have Gimp, which supposedly can do the same thing), you could retexture it in whatever. The original was done in Wings 3d (about 40 minutes work, it's a lot simpler than you think...;)
Juet let me know.

erm...actually the folks in the UVMapping forum could explain it better, but think of it as masking tape; you put down where you want to set the border of a texture to be (think of textures as spray paint...;).
Then, you select a texture to fill that area.
You select a texture (jpg file, whatever works), and apply it to that area.
Then it's textured.
You can pull it into Poser (it will probably honk at not finding the textures), and if you go into the Material room, you'll get a list of separate texture areas (I use imaginative terms like , top hat, brim, rim, etc...;) and you can use the materials you have loaded in Poser for retexturing, if you like.
Let me know by IM if you're still interested...or if anyone else wants it, lemme know...

Hi there,
I'm looking for a textured Sombrero prop, preferably free. Well, actually, it kinda has to be free. I lost my job not too long ago, like os many others, but I rather refuse to give up my interest in poser.
I tried searching under free stuff, and shareCG, but no luck. : (
Thanks for your time reading!
