And here is the actual render.

Can anyone help?

A screenshot of the Background shader tree from the Material room may provide some useful info.

NoelCan ( ) posted Sun, 27 September 2009 at 6:32 AM

Now another problem.  clicking on tabs between  Preview and Render  in the Pose Room..

Will not stay in render,  drops back to Preview after a few seconds..

Looks OK.

NoelCan ( ) posted Sun, 27 September 2009 at 8:29 AM

But obviously it is not..!

Any suggestions?   Anyone?

nruddock ( ) posted Sun, 27 September 2009 at 10:29 AM · edited Sun, 27 September 2009 at 10:30 AM

If you're using the external renderer, try with the internal one.

Another long shot, but you might also try renaming the file to something that doesn't have a space or underscore in it (can't tell which from the screenshot).

Miss Nancy ( ) posted Sun, 27 September 2009 at 3:31 PM

in addition to noel's advice, there was an old bug dating from P5 in which ground/background img wouldn't render if dead/duplicate nodes present in shader tree.  otherwise, map the img to a cloth plane.

NoelCan ( ) posted Sun, 27 September 2009 at 4:49 PM

Ok,  here is some more confusion.  I have several other images, created at the same time.
They all work fine. So it is just this one image causing a problem..

NoelCan ( ) posted Sun, 27 September 2009 at 5:23 PM

nruddock,   I am using the firefly render as You can see in the first image posted..

Simple solution...   Trash the offending image.   Re render with another image.

I knew there was something along those lines, but couldn't remember/find the details other than it was a Mac problem.

So it's something to do with either the original file or filename.
Does the new file have an underscore or space in the name ?
What about the case of the extension for the working and non-working images ?

NoelCan ( ) posted Sun, 27 September 2009 at 6:54 PM

I was gifted these files.

They are numbered in sequence..

Quote - I was gifted these files.

I don't understand how this information is relevant to the last questions I asked, so let me rephrase :-

Does either the original filename or the new filename contain a " " or a "_" ?
Do both file names have the extension in lower case (e.g. jpg) or was the original extension in upper case (e.g. JPG) ?

NoelCan ( ) posted Sun, 27 September 2009 at 8:24 PM

Yes there are spaces in the file name..

and yes, the extensions are in lower case.
It is only the ONE image causing a problem.

Hence the " Trash the image " comment..

NoelCan ( ) posted Sun, 27 September 2009 at 8:27 PM

I re-named the offending image,  still does not work.

I have asked the person who created the pic if He can re-render.

Miss Nancy ( ) posted Sun, 27 September 2009 at 8:53 PM

or resave said img using different name and filetype, in case there were any control characters (invisible) that weren't deleted in renaming op.

nruddock ( ) posted Mon, 28 September 2009 at 2:56 AM

OK, so as it's definitely just one image, unless you find something about that image that's unusual, then there's not a lot more help I can give you.

If the image format is one that allows an alpha channel, then it's not unknown for those to be processed incorrectly (in this case a bug report to SM would be in order, but only if yuo can legitimately supply the problem image to them).

NoelCan ( ) posted Mon, 28 September 2009 at 6:25 PM

SM are looking into it..

Now I render using the exact settings as before..

What do I see?

No background.
No texture on the wings
No detail on the skin..

Help..!

Preview above.

And here is the render screen.!

Now I am totally confused.  ( There are Some that say it is what I am on a good day. )

Here it is.. The problem image..

LazyLeopard ( ) posted Tue, 29 September 2009 at 2:35 PM

If there's a problem with that image then it's a problem in the specific format of your copy.

Once it's been through whatever mangling this forum uses to tidy up images for posting it is called "file_440349.jpg", is "JPEG image data, JFIF standard 1.01", is 242163 bytes long, and works fine as a background, at least in my copy of Poser 8.

NoelCan ( ) posted Tue, 29 September 2009 at 3:09 PM

I know..  It is a crazy Thing.  The image renders in Poser pro though.

Like I stated earlier,  delete this  image from My files and put it down to experisnce..!

LazyLeopard ( ) posted Tue, 29 September 2009 at 4:32 PM

Did you try (say) downloading the copy from the forum here and checking to see whether it still misbehaves on your system?

NoelCan ( ) posted Tue, 29 September 2009 at 4:41 PM

LazyLeopard..    Any relation to "Snow" ?

That works,  thanks...!
