Quote - Where can I see Antonia?

Seriously! It sounds like she might be pretty cool, despite the freakishly long legs. I've tried everything - searched the galleries and the Poser forum, clicked the links in people's signatures, and so on - but I just wasn't able to find any sign of her.

And now enough of that nonsense! This thread is about Eva. It says so clearly in the subject line. 😉

Quote - I dunno about this Eva. Looks like excellent modeling, but I can't get past that "Dude Looks Like A Lady" look to her face...

And mentioning "Cross Dresser" in a thread with that figure seems strangely appropriate.

You are too used to seeing barbie models here in 3d.  The British actress Minnie Driver has the same kind of face and I don't think she looks like a man.

LaurieA, are you saying you think V4 is a step backwards from V3 in terms of her proportions?

Quote - LaurieA, are you saying you think V4 is a step backwards from V3 in terms of her proportions?

Whoever decided to to give poor V4 those simian toes must not have had enough coffee that day...lol.

In some ways, yes. I realize she has a gajillion morph targets and all that, but the proportions are still as odd as the earlier versions, maybe even a tad more extreme.

I'm not knocking anyone who likes her (or Eva either for that matter). Heck, I bought V4 and her morphs too. Seems almost like a requirement to me after all these years with Poser ;o). But it's definitely a love/hate type of relationship...lol. And I wasn't giving a review or a recommendation. In fact, if some of us in the Poserverse didn't have V4, I'd think it a bit odd after all this time. I was just stating what I notice with figures, that's it. At the same time I realize that what people seem to value is the super-model, unnaturally leggy type of female that just doesn't pop up much when I walk down the street. But then 3D is all about fantasy to a degree, no? ;o). All I'm saying is that it would be nice to have a figure that looks really kinda "normal", without miles of legs, that scales nice and can be posed when scaled without looking like the victim of a tragic fall. I guess I could use D|S for scaling (I've heard it handles that better), but I'm a Poser user after all and don't know much about D|S other than that I have trouble using it ;o).

All in all, and like I said before, these figure modelers are just giving the people what they want (at least the major majority). Please don't fault me if I want to see something different among all the Vickys with legs long as a telephone pole, tiny heads and tripple F size breasts....sigh. In some ways, Eva is a nice departure from Vicky since she has the more athletic look to her, but still with the same general things I mentioned earlier :o).

All of it was my opinion, nothing more really. I can't (and won't) tell people what or what not to buy. I was only stating what I notice and what I'd like to see, and that's all really :o).

Laurie

TZORG ( ) posted Mon, 28 September 2009 at 9:33 AM

I'm not faulting you, I was just of the impression that V4's proportions are more likely than V3's.

e.g. Thorne/Sarsa's young-looking V3 morphs look very very strange on her imho. Unless you enlarge the head.

I made a comparision and found that both Eva and P6 Jessi subdivided share the same mesh, is this guy Chris the creator of Jessi P6? If so why don't advertise Eva as a new version of JessiP6? If he is not, then there is a problem I guess... Left- Eva on the right- Jessi P6

those meshes don't look that similar to me.  Look at the head, hips, breasts and sternum for starters.  Plus the proportions are different.

Ok, the head is not the same but the polygon distribution in the rest of the body is very, very close to that on PJ6.

If she is only a new head then kind of lost her value or at least her "totally new" tag.

you can't tell very much from that screenshot about the topology but so far as I know she's modelled from scratch

Ummm... no. I'm not "used to seeing barbie models here in 3D".
Sorry, but I do get out, and I make it a habit to frequently interact with actual real women, and am pretty sure I know what I like.

Edit:
Plus I do see alot of art made at places by people who aren't using DAZ figures, models that are far more proportionally accurate or aesthetically pleasing.

You raise a good point.  Hypothetically speaking, if a particular figure infringes on another figure's copyright, does that means that anyone who bought the infringing figure could not ever use it?  I guess that's one "Barbie" who'd have to stay in a box on the shelf (?).

Hang on.. Someone says Eva MAY be made from Jessi and then HE (udhal) is to blame?

I can't say if she's Jessi with a new head or not, but the mesh looks similar at a quick glance. I hope we're not seeing a new Renda, that would be a shame, Eva looked refreshingly different.. probably because I've never really used Jessi much...

TZORG ( ) posted Mon, 28 September 2009 at 3:56 PM

Something I don't understand is why, if one hypothetically were to use another mesh, they would only use one mesh.

Eva is not the same height as Jessi, so doesn't that mean she would hypothetically have had to be completely rerigged? Why not make a Frankenstein monster then, of lots of figures?

If one has the Jessie 6 figure, and one has Eva, then the two figures can be compared in minute detail. Why speculate. Look and see.

Well, since the face isn't Jessi's, it's possible that this was done. If Eva is in fact just a higher res Jessi, that is. The evidence is damning, but we shouldn't become a mob with pitchforks just yet.

What evidence?  A single image, not very large, that shows one view of two wireframes scaled to the same size and which shows obvious differences in mesh topology, not just similarities?

I'm not saying I know what the answer is, but I've been looking for the last little bit to find out and I haven't seen anything else (and I'm not at home, so I can't do a comparison myself).

Look at the flow of polys along the thighs, the calves, the hips, the arms, the collarbone, the genital region. Then there's the suddenly disappearing products, as noted above. Which could be just a precaution, to allow time to investigate, or could be a quick, shrewd move to try and divorce themselves from the product. Personally, I prefer to think the former. I'd also prefer to think that the mesh is original, but I'm hearing from people beyond this thread who own Eva and are doing their own comparisons, too.

Just to let you guys at RDNA know, even if it does turn out to be a copyright issue, I won't stop shopping at your store. I know you guys produce quality stuff, and aren't to blame.
