Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 09 3:46 am)
Technically this one and the 4 year old ARE based on Victoria 2, although it is a new mesh. The texture maps for Vickie all work just fine (Dazyl is wearing a modified version of the Vickie 2 texture available at DAZ), and she has many of the same morph targets from Vickie 2. Absolutely delightful to work with. They've done it again! Thorne =};-}>
....baby sea ogre, baby do ogre? Woohoo! The kids are taking over! Dazyl's face is a combination of morphs that come with the pre-teen, and a sizeable collection of my own that I loaded her up with because I didn't know how it was all going to turn out. So she will come with some presets on her own morphs with a few original ones thrown in. BTW Hairy, so sorry I forgot about that file you ordered, and it's right there staring me in the face when I log in because otherwise I'd NEVER have remembered it! These li'l darlings have just been running me ragged lately... birthing babies ain't no picnic, I'll tell ya! Innywayz, I'll correct that right away. ;o) -Thorne
These are so cute! Is this something that is available now or in the future?

Wow Marque, is that the pre-teen and pre-schooler or...? Definitely something a little different- nice work! We are assured these will be ready just any day now, and my Dazyl version will be shortly after that- still working on a few little extras to include with her. I'll be posting more images as I get her files finalized. ;o)
Wow when these are released I'm gonna go broke! lmao!

And here I was trying to keep this all a secret. :-) I got the chance to do the textures for the release, which I am also told will be very soon. DAZ is just once again trying to get everything just right before the final release. Isn't it nice to have so many options. I remember Poser 1 figures. Gag! We've come a long way. I never dreamed that we'd have this quality of figures at (IMHO) affordable prices. I also remember the days of yore when I was on an old Amiga trying to create a human on my own. Luckily for us all I opted to leave that up to the professionals (yes many people here are included in that Proffessional statement ;-)) Thanks DAZ! (Zygote orig.) James
Anyone know how much these are going to cost??? Just want to know now so I can be prepared to be poor :)

Wow! All the little kiddikins are pouring out from everywhere! James that texture is just perfect, and Cris yours are too. ;o) I think the cool thing is (please to correct me, James, if I'm wrong about this) this texture will also fit Victoria 1 and 2? Geez this is like a birthday party here, I'm breaking out the ice cream and cake and (water) balloons and ribbons and candles and presents and...
Thorne, Can't wait for your little Dazyl either, shes adorable :)

Melanie, Often a product will be sent out for a test run, especially near the end before release, and the group is kept very small and can be different depending on the product. I have been privileged enough to have been asked for endorsements on products such as Victoria 2 in the past. I was lucky enough to work on the girls. Most work is done in house at DAZ who has extremely high standards, IMHO. Good people to be able to work with. Cris
I think that it shows good foresight to select a group based on the particular item, from the users in the community who seem to work more in those areas and/or have done so for a while. DAZ has been very open minded about any and all suggestions for improvement, additions, etc. even up to radically altering the entire product- within time constraints of course. for Instance, it was not written in stone that there would be a new mesh geometry until other possibilities had been tested, tried, and exhausted. Being the stubborn sort that I am, I'm still beating on some of those old horses, though they are looking deader all the time. And if one of those should show some signs of new life, I know they would be interested in it still. I just wish that we, or maybe you guys did, but I, had known who else was working on the kids as well, in order to compare notes and team up on solving some of the problems encountered. But I never had any problem getting technical support by just calling the toll-free number. It does appear now that each of us was working a different, separate aspect of this product, all coordinated by DAZ to have the best possible outcome on the whole package. There's a word for that.... oh yeah, professional. ;o)
Thank you again, Cris ;o) Actually it wasn't all that quickly- I've been working with them for several weeks now, and Dazyl is about the 3rd version of the whole character's body and about the 10th or so face. Poor, poor Maryanne, Dazyl's predecessor... tsk, tsk... Originally I saved 56 separate morph targets (every single body part) from the new mesh in an attempt to make the new mesh compatible with existing stand-alone Victoria morph targets that are so widely available. I used the original Victoria mesh and applied all 56 morphs to her and they worked beautifully- as long as she stood still and didn't move at all! Because of the scaling differences, a morph on every part was required to rebuild the shape- well that part worked well anyway. ;o) It is good news that you CAN use existing Victoria morph targets on these kids, and they work just fine- as I mentioned above when I said I loaded her down with some of my own- those were my own Victoria morphs I meant. The problem is that morph targets loaded directly into Poser as OBJ imports record the deltas from the origin point of the OBJ: little girl's head jumps about two feet off her shoulders, up to about where adult Vickie's head would be. :o( That includes OBJ morphs that are stripped down to nothing but the V lines- they still have the same effect. HOWEVER- using a utility such as Morph Manager (or by hand in a text editor for that matter), morph targets can be transferred from a Victoria CR2 to a kid CR2 without that translation effect that the differing origin points causes. That's because CR2 files contain only the deltas, or offsets, and none of the origin data. In other words, an inch from my nose is still an inch from my nose, whether my nose is on the floor or the ceiling. (Don't even ask. ;o)) So we now have a brand new very well constructed mesh geometry, that will accept not only the Victoria textures, but her morph targets as well if done correctly. How the heck can you beat that? (P.S. I still have my Vickie 1 kid doll I had developed prior to any involvement with these kids, she just got put on hold for a while. but she will be back around, too)
