It's supposed to be tarnished metal, but that's not important. I just made some generic blocks of texture that took me 30 seconds to create. It's not mapped to the object. It looked better than the flat surfaces of the untextured object. If I decide to give the object away for free then whoever uses it can create their own textures.
Nice job on the model - I especially like the wick - excellent touch! As for the base, it looks like the mapping is either 1)planar or 2)cylindrical with an incorrectly proportioned map. You could get a lot more detail and better control of the pseudo "reflection" if you make cylindrical mapping with about a 3:1 aspect ratio (width to height). It will eliminate the smearing blotchy effect which is probably caused by distortion of the map.

Here's my new Candle Set character with the unpolished silver and brass bases. It includes the candle character, the candle geometry, and the metal and wick textures. The wick and the candle include morphs for the burned down effect. They candle sets on the left and right same character, but one is burned down and one is not. The flame is a licensed object. I haven't yet decided what I'm going to do with it, but feel fee to make suggestions or comments.
