THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: Bryce 7 Beta available

bobbystahr ( ) posted Sat, 23 January 2010 at 9:21 PM

I've noticed a distinct increase in the quality of the render as well as noticable speed increase....no image yet as I'm still in torture testing but soon, it seens to use similar instancing to Vue because IIRC Vue will show amizong increse in poys in a scene with a population added indicating they aren't true instances...I think Terragen2 uses true instancing because I've never locked it up and have had 15 000 000 grass plants at once with 3 cloud layers which with a lot of polys, will lock the girl right up.. ...

Once in a while I look around,
I see a sound
and try to write it down
Sometimes they come out very soft
Tinkling light sound
The Sun comes up again

Increase in quality?  I must go back and re-examine that old render then, as that had some odd glitches, might need to increase the rays or something.

"amizong increse"?  What have you been drinking man?  Lol.

Cloud layers.... mmmmmm!  Drifts off into Cloud Cookoo Land....

By the way Bobby, what do you mean by Bryce native stuff?  Do you mean just primatives and trees?  or .obp?

Cos the Alien Bug was an .obp but the little boxes were .obj imports and it seemed to manage the boxes a lot better than the bugs, which is perfectly understandable if you're thinking in terms of polys, as the bugs will be huge in polys but the boxes are just boxes, not quite 6 polys each as the edges are smoothed, but still pretty low in comparison.

Where can find the link for Bryce 7.
I have the original version of Bryce 6.3, but DAZ,
it didn't communicate me anything on the subject.
And I was knowing that it is a Beta test.
I was very interested in being one.
The link above enters in the page of tests, I need
of the download for who is registered and to have Bryce 7 functional, could anybody help?
Thanks!

I too missed the boat by not checking my sites for a week or so.  Happy to wait for the next opportunity.

If you reset your Bryce 6, 6,1 or 6,3 download at DAZ the Beta will pop up...

I made a statement much earlier on this thread about Bryce 7 being able to now export an object file you just applied the textured maps to...  I was very excited and I am still..  But after several experiments..

I found You can export a template mapped textured object file but you'll have problems importing it again and viewing it in Bryce 7... I was able to view it in another App..    If you exported the same file to a 3DS file format you'll have more success...

I guess this is early beta and that export function is not totally functional.

Hi Tom 271!
Thank you very much for this information, I had problems also when importing a model.
A hug!

I'm sorry, I'm sorry! (shakes head)

It's a nervous compulsion.

Partly I can blame a writer's background, having written a novel and run various writers' groups, but mainly I think it's an inability to stop interferring - I wonder if it's related to thinking that the word "the" suddenly doesn't look right? or is that red wine?

Has anyone noticed that the new release 7.0.0.151 exe.  is a little slower in the render...?

and the new IBL got less smoother and more jerky to adjust?  Quality, intensity and HDRI effect..?

The bugs need be resolved soon for such a popular program
I hope liberate the final version of Bryce 7 soon.

Yes, and I know they are working on it hard.

Quote - I hope liberate the final version of Bryce 7 soon.

Well, actually I don't.  I hope we get a few more beta versions yet, all with new and different things in them as well as bug fixes we have been waiting a long time for.

THEN, they can release the full version.

But I'm enjoying playing with the betas too much to want it to stop just yet.  Besides I haven't got any money right now.

The latest Beta Build works for me!!! :)  the first beta release would simply crash.

Bryce Lightning is still not function.  I tried with 6.3 and 7.0 Beta Lightning clients.  It just goes into Pause and refuses to run.

These are early betas, so I'm not shaking any fists. :)

FranOnTheEdge ( ) posted Mon, 15 February 2010 at 3:32 PM

Hey Analog-X64,
Take a look in the light lab - there's a load of new buttons and I'm finding that some are turning on when I use different lights!

I thought it was all disabled for the next beta, but stuff is working right now!

The light lab is great..    I got very interesting effects in seconds...
specially with the volume lighting...

FranOnTheEdge ( ) posted Mon, 15 February 2010 at 5:25 PM

tom271 - I dunno what I'm doing wrong then cos most of the things I do result in very, very long renders.

What did you do in the light lab?  Especially with volume lighting?

In my Bryce, only intensity works, the other effects are incapacitated.
Always when I change of material terrestrial, it is clearer!

tom271 ( ) posted Mon, 15 February 2010 at 5:54 PM

As you remember when you have a radial light in the lab.. you can set it to volume.. well in this beta the volume is much more robust then it use to be,,,
RENDER OPTION ---> volume.
FALLOFF     -------->  range ---- 10 to 15
INTENSITY  --------> diffuse ---- 60 - 70

no texture...   but try using procedural  gel...   wow! higher Fallout ----> range

FranOnTheEdge ( ) posted Mon, 15 February 2010 at 6:01 PM

Oh yes I've tried a gel - but not with a volume light - I'll try that in a mo...

I had a go with using a gel on a light squished under my egg, the light was previously used as a negative light to provide the normally missing dark shadows.

That is hilarious and wonderful egg talk! Seems this egg is on an adventure. I bet you could create an entire movie based on this premise with no problem.

The ants crawling is particularly impressive. Very nice.
