That are you trying to achieve in Photoshop with an obj file? Just curious... I thought Photoshop was more for processing/manipulating image files, not 3D object files...

Photoshop CS 3 and 4 will import OBJ files for texturing.

tho how well I don't know (Photoshop 7 here)

It works fine, but....if you have a object with several materials (ie the V4 Bodysuit) you are going to get layers for each separate material (like 7 for just the leg alone).
I'm still trying to find a way to paint, and collapse the layers all into one layer and kick it out for use in Poser (There is something I must be missing).

William the Bloody says it works for him, and I believe him!

Well, for V4 I'd be using SnowSultan's maps to texture on (see bottom of that page)... no point in re-inventing the wheel. And for the V4 Bodysuit... same solution (see bottom of that page). Or am I missing something here?

That how to turn etc is written in the manual and the pdf of Photoshop.
So that should not be a problem to figure it out by just reading them.....

You can do that way for sure, but using Photoshop 3D tools is like DeepPaint or Blacksmith3D-Paint. or BodyPaint from Maxon, only more familiar.

With the flattened UV map where you think something is may not translate well when you have the model in Poser and in 3D. I do 3D versions of the comic book costumes I drew in 2D and well....sometimes we do not get an exact match, especially when you cross seams or if the UV map is not exactly set up symmetrically.  Also you can paint where you want to as opposed to trying to match a distance or spot that is not exactly on a vertex or on an edge.
