Subject: Antonia - Opinions?

SaintFox ( ) posted Tue, 30 March 2010 at 3:19 PM

BlueEcho, I have a question: What way would you prefer to recieve the promos when I am finished with them (I am just rendering a large version of the one with the chair... high end hair and a chair with reflections - kind of masochistic...)?

I'm not always right, but my mistakes are more interesting!

And I am not strange, I am Limited Edition!

I will not send the first promo before tomorrow as I've made area render that need to be combined but eMail is the way to go as long as your provider allows larger files. Are you able to open tif with lzw compression?

I've gotten a bit lost, I'm afraid.  Where is the freebie site?  It's great to have one spot for Antonia freebies, but not so useful if it's as hard to locate the link for that site as it is to locate the freebie links within this thread.

Cage can be an opinionated jerk who posts without thinking.  He apologizes for this.  He's honestly not trying to be a turkeyhead.

Attached is my final set of corrections for Antonia's "ground state", packaged into two injection poses - one for the hands and one for the feet. Strip the '.txt' from the filename and unzip as usual.

If I keep hearing roaring silence about these changes, I'll assume they are approved by everyone; and when I send the yellow spaceships in, I don't want to hear any complaints. Just sayin'...

It's on my list, really, I swear - on my right site there's a pinboard and one of the notes of it says "Antonia freebie promos, Antonia Haende"! Please allow one more day for me to look into the changes -  I think I have a good reason for the delay: Payed work and our cat will have babies during the next hours or days. Well, I'll be making JCMs for the toes and try to fiddle with the JPs for the thumb before the next version gets out. Both of those task can reasonably be expected to turn into major p.i.t.a.s, which means you'll have plenty of time to look at the new hands and feet.

All the best to mama cat!

Err, once it's saved as a .txt that's all it is, there doesn't seem to be any means of changing the extension to make it into a zip. Am I missing something here?

EDIT:

I worked it out, if you right click the link and do 'Save link as', it saves it as File.php which you can then rename as a zip and unzip. Hope this clears up any confusion.

Rogerbee1: If you are using Windows, I recommend you go to "Folder Options" in the Control Panel and uncheck "Hide extensions for known file types". That enables you to see and alter all file extensions explicitly. If you don't want to do that, you could also open a command shell and use the rename command in there.

Err... sorry folks, but here's one more version. When I played with the JPs, I noticed that the thumb didn't have quite the right thumbiness yet. Hopefully, I've fixed that now. To make up for it, this version unpacks as a single file FingersAndToes.pz2 (plus the low-poly version in case anyone's interested) under RuntimelibrariesPoseAntonia, that loads both morphs and sets them to 1. Please dispose of the FeetReshape*.pz2 and FingersSmooth*.pz2 files from my earlier uploads!

I've skipped about 10 pages so I have no idea if this has been fixed or not.

DS has a problem with Antonia, DS hates concave polygons, it breaks them and turns them jet black which then stand out in any render, and Antonia has several on her finger tips.

Any chance of splitting the offending quads into tri-poly.

odf ( ) posted Wed, 31 March 2010 at 8:22 AM

Thanks, Bejaymac! No, I wasn't aware of that problem in D|S. Changing anything in the mesh at this point is tricky, but I'll see what I can do.

I always thought that since Antonia is optimized for subD, it would be possible to use the low-poly version in D|S as a subD surface. Has anyone ever tried that? I still can't use D|S properly on my machine, unfortunately, or I would play with it more.

She does clean up with the SubD, but in DS3 SubD is now a 3Delight gimmick rather than true SubD, which means no exporting of a SubDed mesh, so we either have to apply SubD everytime we load her, or save her as a .daz file, but that's a user unfriendly, uneditable pile of garbage of a file format that's best kept for finished scenes, rather than single items (give me a CR2 & OBJ any day).

What about the sets that went to the first few versions, older mapping?
Like my GramTia textures and morph, will they have a place or should we scrap them?

I really, really don't want to re-work that one what with so much else to do...sigh.

I just uploaded a file AHead-117-hi.zip to the developers site. It contains the old head actor with the larger eyes as an OBJ file. You can use that to adjust your older morphs in OBJ form by hand: load both your morph and AHead-117-hi.obj as morph targets for the head. Then dial your morph with strength 1 and AHead-117-hi with strength -1. You can then spawn a morph target from the result and save it in your preferred way.

Alternatively, you could use any deltas you may have or apply your morphs to Antonia-118 to make deltas from them. Also, if you can get the complete set of OBJ files to me somehow (preferrably unsquished), I'll be happy to turn them into deltas for you. I can haz a scrip. Iz otomatc.

Do you mean the ones with the old UV-mapping? No, I was planning to drag them with me all the way to the stable version. So all the old texture should still work. You just have to tell people that they have to load the "oldUVs" versions of Antonia if they want to use those textures.

If you meant the old shapes: no, I wasn't planning to keep those. I've kept some bits and pieces as morphs, like the "breasts classic" and "nipples classic" ones. I might also add the old head shape as a morph target to the next version if people think that could be useful. I guess larger eyes are popular, so why not?

I liked them, too. It would be a pity if they got lost.

But that's exactly why I've been keeping the mesh topology and vertex order stable for a long time. Pretty much any morph ever made should still more or less work, just as long as there are deltas for it or someone remembers (or can guess) which version it was made for.

**odf** quote: *"I just uploaded a file AHead-117-hi.zip to the developers site. It contains the old head actor with the larger eyes as an OBJ file." * Here is an alternative to the above (for Hi Res figure). Just a negative version of the 118 head as a delta injection. It can be used on the 122, or later figures to correct the eye shape when an old obj based morph target is applied. Dial the '118 Negative Head' to 1.0, with no other morphs expressed, load the old morph target you want to convert for the new head shape, and dial it in at 1.0. You can now spawn a new corrected head morph, or export the head as a new morph target.

The '118 Negative Head' uses channel PBMCC_48 in the head actor. You will need to drop the ".TXT" part of the file extension when you save it to disk. In Windows, you may need to go to "Folder Options"  >  "View" tab, in the Control Panel and uncheck "Hide extensions for known file types", in order to be able to see the file extension.

And here's the last one. Too risky? Hopefully not! Somehow I like how this came out, with the asian morph,  the Glynis-body and a hat Toni looks like a posh japanese performance artist  That's why I added the black swirl in the background.

That's a nice morph, very good looking. I like the different kind of nose, it looks very realistic.
