 Hi all!

I recently bought a new character for V4.  Only, when I add the character onto V4, I get what you see in the pic.  I added the character's skin, eyes and make-up.  Everything is now white...

I haven't been doing DAZ very long (about 11 or 12 months), but I  have added a TON of stuff! This is the first time I have had this happen.

Any ideas for me!

Thanks in advance!

Kevin

A couple of questions:

Does the character render white or is it only in the preview?

Does the character have support for DAZ Studio?  I know my characters aren't tested in Studio and I don't offer support for them in Studio because I don't use DAZ Studio.

What character is it?  This often happens if you don't have the correct shaders, e.g. if you have the DS2 version of Elite Human Surface Shader but not the DS3 version.

 Wow!  Quick replies!  Thanks!

The character is white in the preview.  Everything else I do/add comes out looking like it's "supposed to".  I bought the character a couple of days ago (Farissa) on DAZ's web site.

I'm running DAZ Studio3 (free version).  The installation gave me separate directories for  "Poser MATS" and "DStudio MATS".

And if I render, it stays white...

Thanks again!

And you're using the DS Mats?  You should contact both DAZ and the author about it.

It says there are 219 mb in 5 files...did you make sure you downloaded all of them and installed everything that came with her?
If you did...then you need to call Daz or put in a trouble ticket in their support pages.  Once in a while they mess up with their installers or have missing files.

Edit:
I also just saw this notice....
**"Separate Pose libraries for Poser and DAZ Studio were created for this package in order to allow different material settings."

**You may want to make sure you are using mat files from the correct library folder.

Yes.  I downloaded and installed all five parts and installed them in order.

Bummer...  I was hoping that I screwed up so I could fix it...  But, guess I'll go ahead and complete a ticket at DAZ..

Thanks Annie!

Yes, after installing it had two directories:  one is "DStudio MATS"  and the other is "Poser MATS".  I used the DStudio MATS...

The problem I think will be that a file is missing or installed at a diff location then the texture loader looks. Normally you would get error stating DS can find file and do you wish to locate.. Like Annie says sometime the installer can be wrong. If the readme file is included you could check your HDD and match this to to readme file to check the files and there locations.

You can also reach me on skype.com to talk name ladiesmen22

Did you get any error pop-up windows requesting to locate textures?
Always read those readme files, sometimes you need to locate files in a manner for the loading to be complete.  Above all else, send a request to the author as they may have come across this problem before.
Good luck!

Hello, I think you must have the Elite Human Surface Shader installed for the DS-Mats to work.

Hope this helps.

3DFineries ( ) posted Wed, 07 April 2010 at 7:46 AM

As DJC3p0 said, you may be using HSS (Human Surface Shader).  If so, you must be holding the Ctrl key when you apply the HSS shader to your model.
In the pop up window you see:
Click "selected surfaces" under the first dropdown tab & chose "Ignore" for the second one.
This should tell the HSS to NOT replace your texture with the white you are getting.
Let me if you now get the result you are looking to get.  :)

Have a creative day!

Farissa does use the Human Surface Shader - do you have that? Holding down the ctrl-key won't help - that just gives you the option not to load the textures but to use those already applied, which you don't want (and the presets for Farisa are applying the shader, you don't do that as a separate step). If you don't have, and don't want to but, the HSS then you can either ask for a refund or apply the textures by hand through the Surfaces palette.

Or...............it could be just a corrupted d/l!

Make sure you turn off any download managers if you have them working for you!
