Subject: Antonia - Opinions?

Well perhaps bablefish is still a work in progress. I ran the translation backwards from Deutsche to English and got "Did you receive a spare area?". The English text started as "Have you got a spare room?. I think something may have been lost in translation.

SaintFox ( ) posted Wed, 07 April 2010 at 10:15 PM · edited Wed, 07 April 2010 at 10:18 PM

 Yes, we have a guest room but like any other guest you definitly would prefer the living room: Big Ikea sleep-couch, view over the hill side and three computers some steps away plus enough cats to share with guests.  Oh and: Polite and cute waitresses to serve the beer (and a handsome inn-keeper!). But odf is right: There are some "interesting" fellows amongst the waiters and waitresses, my funniest adventure was a former NVA orderly (National people's army of the DDR - history meanwhile) who seemed not to be aware that the old times are gone and that guest are not fond of being treated like soldiers.

Yes, Babelfish is mean. I like especially translating "Himmel hilf" and then translate backwards and forwards again and again. "Himmel Hilf" is pretty much the same as "Heaven (Lord) help me" - but what you get is a kind of translation comedy.

The each-beer-an-Euro day is mostly a thing made for students of the local engineer college and to fill the pub on "weak" days like Wednesday.

Leo wants me to say that he does not still sit in the pub but coding offline so that you can still use the site while not seeing changes yet.

  The setup is finished.

At the upload area I have insert an user-login.

At first time using the uploader, it's necessary to make a account. That's "fully automaticly" !!

The password is encoded on a database storaged. If you forget your password or your username, please drop me a line, that I delete the entries from the database, I can't send you a new password or username. Every username is unique, no person can make a "fake"-account from other members.

A little bit OT:

Take a sentence in your native language, translate it to a 2nd one and the result to a 3rd one and that result back to your language. Hope you still know the first sentence.

Butz to be honest, similar things happen also with some human translators. I remember that we tested this in Saudi Arabia. We gave an english document to a translator to translate it into Arabic and the result we gave to an other one to translate this in English. Believe me, in the original text there was nothing written about roses and other funny things.

Meanwhile Leo fell asleep after sitting down on the sofa, just after saying: "Oh, I remeber this movie, I like it a lot..."
Somehow the things babelfish creates remember me on the manual of the Emtec Movie Cube that seems to be translated by Emtec's concierge. I can highly recommend dict.cc. It's nothing that translates complete sentences and of course no Berlin dialect like Leo writes sometimes (and to make it even worse he also lived in Switzerland and in the Rheinland and both regions left their marks). But you get correct translations, popular sayings and the forum is very interesting as well. You'll with other languages beside german and english as well.

By the way and because of Maundy Thursday: I was pretty puzzled to find out that it's name is Good Friday - somehow this sounds more than just a bit strange to me.

And this was very unspecific, I know:

***Why is Good Friday referred to as “good”? What the Jewish authorities and Romans did to Jesus was definitely not good (see Matthew chapters 26-27). However, the results of Christ’s death are very good!*** [***Romans 5:8***](http://bible.logos.com/passage/niv/Romans%205.8)***, “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”*** [***First Peter 3:18***](http://bible.logos.com/passage/niv/First%20Peter%203.18) ***tells us, “For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive by the Spirit.”***

**And this link has this to say about the reason for calling it Good

The name "Good Friday" possibly comes from "God's Friday," although the exact reason for the current name is unclear.
**
So I guess there's more than one reason.

off/topic:

And Good Friday (at least in the U.S.) is a working day for some and a vacation day for some (depends on the company). I've never had Good Friday off for any company that I've worked for...lol.

And we don't feast here on Good Friday. We save that for Easter Sunday. For some Catholics, Good Friday is a very solemn occasion. I had a friend who grew up Catholic and every Good Friday from noon until 3 pm, he and his brothers and sisters had to sit and do absolutely nothing for those three hours (not even speak). I don't know how his parents managed it...lol.

Hi folks, just popping in for a few minutes.

Haven't had time to do any work on my Toni set or keep up.
Been busy.
My brother took me to do a bit of shopping, then to the cemetery to put flowers on my son's grave.
Then he had me scan some stuff so I could do a memorial obit on his wife.

I think the memorial obit is finished if he approves of the style that I chose.
Had to download a few free clip art things for the design and then Photo-shop it all. :)

I'll be back to work on my sets as soon as I can but the hurting has set in again.
Hands, arms, feet and legs.
Gets so bad I feel like losing anything I put in my stomach.
Needless to say, I don't feel much like working on stuff...sigh.
Hope it lets up by morning.

SF, Leo, do I gotta sign in with an ID now too?
Just checking. lol.

And yes, you and we have to sign in as well - in fact and most of all to be able to edit your files (updating, deleting or adding information). But you can, of course, always sneak in through the ftp-door 😉

Leo is still sleeping and I will let him until we have to bring the litter down to the parking lot - finally we'll get rid of those yellow sacks today. Yellow sacks: typical german sillyness that means seperating recycable materials like cans and plastic bottles from the rest of the litter. Sillyness because there are not enough companies to recycle all the stuff we collect so busily so that in the end a huge part of it ends in an ordinary dumping ground.

For general amusement, here's the result of my latest attempt at a character morph. I had to render without eyebrows because the ones on the Toni Polygon picture didn't fit. I guess with the right brow shape and some hair she would look quite passable, but I have yet much to learn.

(If you'd like to amuse yourselves even more by guessing my reference, here's a tip: it's neither Alan Alda nor Franka Potente.)

Not Uma Thurman, although I can definitely see the resemblance. The chin actually turned out too pointy, which I've just fixed.

I don't know if anyone's planning an extensive morph pack. Definitely not me, as I won't have the time. I'll just keep doing what I've always done: play with Antonia and share the results, if they're any good.

(I was thinking about trying some commercial endeavours in the near future, since I am now allowed to have jobs beside my job. But it'll probably be software rather than content.)

Huh?  Who, me?

I have a couple of character morphs I could share, I guess, but nothing like a high-quality morph pack.  The characters I've been developing use the Antonia 118 body-shaping morphs.  All I've made are new face morphs, and those aren't very versatile, being intended just to shape Antonia like these two specific characters.

Odf, that face looks achingly familiar, but I can't identify her.  😊  This is a celebrity?  An English-speaking celebrity?  Film, television, music, other?  Can you give a hint?  😕

Aha!  I had to look up Morphs++ to find out what it was.

Once PhilC creates the Wardrobe Wizard data files for Antonia, it should be possible to use WW and Morphing Clothes to try to transfer body morphs between the figures.  I'll probably get around to making TDMT morph transfer data files for V4 and Antonia eventually, for the head morphs.  Right now the entire process for TDMT is still apparently in flux, and I'm taking a much-needed break from the script.

Nice work, BluEcho!

Here's a slightly more advanced stage of my little morph experiment. I don't feel I'm very good at this, so I'll put this one aside for now and just pick another celebrity as a reference whenever I feel like taking a break from fiddling with the fingers.

If you want to guess, she's an English-speaking actress. But I don't really expect you to recognize her. Maybe one day I'll render her with some hair and see if that helps.

PS: I think the eyes are the weakest link right now. Very tricky to get those right. I'm pretty happy with the nose, mouth and general face shape.
