Subject: What do you think is happening here?

I've mapped a texture map onto a cloth created using Blender cloth sim. I notice that in certain places the alignment of the texture does not follow the alignment of the polygons. I have tried the various relevant mapping modes, but I cannot change how it aligns.

See red areas in attached image: (click for full size)

Any thoughts as to what's happening, and how I might fix it? Is this an issue with Blender cloth sim, perhaps not creating normals properly?

Thanks
Richard

My best bid is that you use the "faces" mapping, but you've probably already tried that.
Cool model BTW.

Yes, I've tried that, as well as "Automatic" and "Flat".

UPDATE: This also happens with a built in Vue object (table + tablecloth).

Try parametric, both in the effects "Object  - parametric" and the mapping, and downscale the texture map, but again you've probaly tried that as well.

Before running the cloth simulation in Blender, I would do a planar UV mapping on the cloth object. Then run the simulation. This should retain the UV map and the texture should look more natural. I don't have Blender, but this is what I would do in the programs I use.

That sounds right - the UV map has to be deformed too. I felt it was something to do with UV mapping, but it's something I am only just learning.

Thanks

That's done the trick - thanks!
