Subject: Question for our poser experts community....

Just a quick question....

Is there a utility/python script that might allow selecting a part of a clothing (say "chest" or "right collar") and link it directly to a texture map (instead of editing the entire texture for the clothing? THe situation I am thinking of if I need to have part of the cloth to be either dirty or bloody....

not too sure if this is doable but I think it could be useful feature to have!

Anyways, Thanks for your help and/or insights...

Cheers

You can do it in the Material room because this is where you select each material zone.

IS there a tutorial that describes the process? when  I go to the material room and "click" on the "chest" part of the clothing, it shows up as "shirt"! Maybe  I am missing something fundamental?

First you'll want to keep your shirt as a whole material (shirt) and not split up the material zones.
You could add a ColorMath Add node in front of the shirt map and plug in a bloody or dirty map into the ColorMath node...then your dirty map would appear along with the shirt map. 😉

Material zones may include multiple body parts, thats what you want  so shirt, pants etc dont get broken up to lots of parts.

you can use a blender node to apply one material to another. Its fairly easy if you do it like a tattoo with an image map, you can use modes if you want. You can use a mask to limit the area that your overlay texture applies to.   Search the forums for tattoo and you should find the method.
