Yes thank you Doc. I am a little occupied at the moment however. I live in the downtown core of Toronto ON and fools are tearing the city down around me. Makes it a little hard to concentrate with riots, burning cop cars, military and police choppers overhead and the never ending sirens.
Oh thank the powers that be. The rain is starting even as I type. Maybe this will slow the idiots down and help put out the fires. 1.24 billion of my tax dollars at work.

BTW The fools quieted down about 3am local time but are expected back in about 45 minutes for the next round at 10am. I live on the 3rd floor of a high rise so all this is going on right in front of my eyes but don't worry, I've cancelled a landscaping job for today and will put it off till the protesters/anarchists leave tomorrow. Got some real interesting photos though

Hey Doc;
Question: I used the scale dial on the GROUND prop to come up with my 12% answer. In close up it looked correct. I figured that I had better check 12.5% and see what happens. When I went to manually type in 12.5% in the parameter dial I found out that the actual setting was indeed 12.5 already despite the 12% reading that was showing before trying to manually enter the parameter. Is there a way have my dial show the decimal setting by just spinning it as accuracy counts?

The short answer is .... NO !
Poser displays a rounded (up of down) value depending on the actual value used internally.
( .1 to .5 displays rounded down, e.g., 12.5% will display 12%)
( and .6 to .9 displays rounded up. e.g., and 12.6% will display 13% )
>>> Always type in an actual value when accuracy is needed as opposed to "spinning" the dial.
Note - The amount of change that occurs when using the dial can be modified by changing the "sensitivity" in the Parameter Settings window.ย Play with it and see how it works ... ;=]

Easy. The new box is scaled to 100% because it is a new prop. The old box was at 80% because it was scaled down from the Poser primitive. Kinda cool really.
Gotcha on the rounding of the dials. I never noticed that before till it came up in this lesson.

BUT ... Do you know why we want the Scale to be 100% ?
I might be over thinking this but does it have something to do with a standard (US) sheet of plywood or drywall being 4X8 ft. thus giving us a building module that can be evenly factored into those dimensions? 1ft. being 1.5 boxes thus we get 4X8 ft. = 6X12 boxes

If the squares on our 8 Inch Box prop are 1" square when the Scale is 100% ...
... then if we change the Scale to 1200%, each square would be ? inches square*...
... or one ________ย _________ .

- NOT square inches ... but how many inches wide by how many inches high?
1 in. sq.ย X 12 =12 in. X 12 in.= 1 ft. by 1 ft. for a box sized at 8ft. X 8 ft.

Not every wall needs a door or a window so it isn't one of those. Doc is there a back side to the wall? Is that what is missing? I notice that when I rotate it around the y axis it becomes transparent.

I've checked out the "Octabox" Doc and using that info was able to fill in the backside of the small wall, export it out to .obj and then import it back in as a single wall prop

[edit] There was supposed to be a sample of my work here but I don't know how to post a small animation to show you. Guess I would have to link to an external site. It would have shown the wall rotate 360 with a **Gย **on one side and a P on the other.

Sorry to cut out on you there Doc. I got yanked away last night. I have built the small wall using the reverse normals method. I can see where this method of filling in the back side is much more useful than the "Octabox" method as it would handle irregular or more organic shapes. The "Octabox" requires that the geometry of a prop be completely regular. I'm learning. Thanks for your help.
I have put a window into the small wall by using the group editor to select polygons on both sides of the wall. I have assigned them a material and in the material room put a glass shader on them. This gives me a hole in the wall that the light will pass through. So far so good.
I then went back to my small wall and attempted to make a door in it. I again selected polygons on both sides of the wall and created a prop from them for the door. I moved the center of rotation to the side of the door by moving the Y origin. I used my window method to make the door opening transparent. The door opens and closes correctly but is hollow. Obviously this was not the correct method so blindly forging ahead isn't working all that well but one has to learn somehow.

I would assume so that walls can be kept upright when rotated to make corners. This would also help when putting them at an angle to create a roof. With the center of rotation in the center of the wall I see a bit more hassle trying to do these things.
