Hi all,

I have not used Poser in some time and just upgraded from 7 to PP 2010. I had no trouble installing old content into Runtimes. All that went fine. Everything is recognized and in the Library Browser and they all load fine. My problem is that many of the thumbnails are not showing up and I'm getting the place holder image. Any ideas that might help me figure out what is going wrong?

 Try bringing the image into the stage and saving that.
Are you trying to add the render image to the Library ?
If you are try going back to the image that your loading and add before render.
Of course I may have misunderstood the question you asked, in that case I am sure you will ignore this superfluous advice.

 It's because the thumbnails are RSR files. Poser, up to P7 had an automatic RSR-to-png converter built in. For some reason that was scrapped with the new library, ao any file that has ONLY rsr thumbnails will now have the shrugging man.

IIRC, there's a free rsr2png converter here in free stuff :)

I concur with TG.  You are definitely having an rsr recognition problem with the current iteration of PoserPro.  The free rsr2png converter works beautifully and can convert all your files within nested folders. 

I still say it was ignorant of Smith Micro to throw that out, that's like buying a car with rims that no tire fits so you have to make your own tire or hope someone makes one for you

 I don't know why the option was scrapped either and I don't much like it. I kkinda thought most of my libraries had already been converted, but as I've found out, I was sadly VERY WRONG...

The rsr's were a relic of Poser's MacOS origins.  It's more like them leaving off the crank after electric starters were introduced....

At least on a Mac if there is a # in the png filename they will not show up either in PP2010. There are a ton of free mass replacement file name apps out there that can fix this in a second. I use MassReplaceIt. (was reported to Smith eons ago).

.rsr files were a derivative of the PICT format, which is very old hat and not used much these days. PNG files are platform independent and memory-efficient. There's a free rsr to png converter so it's a minor inconvenience.

"Change is inevitable, progress is optional". In this case the progress is hard to see, but abandoning a rickety old file format like .rsr had to happen at some time.
