Maybe you could set up a page for the monthly Bryce challenge that states all the rules, and when somebody wins, that page would be where they would post the topic for the next challenge. That way in order to find out the topic, people would have to at least see the rules. (Whether they would actually read them is, of course, another matter.) That page could also be where you post the list of pics for voting and announce the winner, with a permanent link to it at the top of the Bryce forum like the FAQ. Just a thought.
That's a funny one Allengraph. But the idea of Allen9 is not that bad. But he's right on something, would people read it, maybe a bunch but not all. But for each challenge made repeating the rule would be a good choice since we never repeat enought. I know what i mean since i am doing it each day to peoples who the information goes in and out at the same time. But i mean no disrespect to any body. Pleiades
Seems to me to be very simple. The rules have been posted before. There seems to be numerous mentions of "Rules for the Monthly Challenge" If the rules are broken, the artist and image are in default and should not be regarded for that month. If people dont/wont read the rules, thats just plain bad luck. We are all supposed to be adults and there is a responsibility that goes with that. This may seem hard but Ken, I dont think it would matter how many pages, lights, bells, whistles you put up, some people just aint gonna get it.
Yeah, that's the thing, unless people here are regulars, like fozzibear says, some people just are never going to get it, or bother reading... Maybe, even if it's going to sound redundant, whenever we have a new challenge at the bottom of the new months challenge just have something you can cut and paste into every post that says "remember to review the rules and regulations of the challenge before posting"...
I like to thank all of you for taking your time to give input here, and Im taking all ideas into consideration. Im not sure what Ill end up doing, but this isnt the first time something like this has happened, and I dont like being the old stick in the mud concerning any of you guys here. This forum runs very smoothly, and I like to keep it that way, and keep all of us fellow Brycers doing what we should be doing...rendering:) Hopefully, something will get figured out to make the challanges run alot smoother. How about a permanent thread with the rules listed, and lock that thread and just post a link at the top in the forum message box? Because apparently, not alot of folks read the FAQ(mostly from the amount of repeated questions here that are covered in the FAQ). What do ya'll think? Ken
I haven't been at this forum for very long. This was my first challenge that I entered (on time) and I was able to find the rules and read them a few times to make sure I was in spec. What better way to learn what the rules are than to be held to them. It might be disappointing BUT how dissappointing to the person who played by rules who would have won? The FAQ is in plain site for everyone. That should be enough. Doesn't that seem fair to Everybody? You don't want to punish the people who do pay attention.
I agree with deci6el Deci6el wrote "What better way to learn what the rules are than to be held to them. It might be disappointing BUT how dissappointing to the person who played by rules who would have won?" Bending the rules just once says that they can be bent anytime. Swade
There are 10 kinds of people: Those who know binary, and those who don't.
A whiner is about as useful as a one-legged man at an arse kicking contest.

Ok, I recieved some complaints about this months winning image being previously posted before the July's Challenge was announced. Does anyone here ever read the Forum FAQ? Because the rules have been posted there for some time now. Should the challenge rules be given a page of their own? Because apparently no-one ever reads them. Dont get me wrong, Im not trying to chew everyone out, I want to know, so I can get the rules posted in a permanent place where everyone will know to look, So I dont have to repost them all the time. The Monthly Challenges
Each month we have a monthly challenge. Members are all invited to participate in. The winners of the previous challenge gets to choose the theme for the next challenge. The rules are simple, Create a image in Bryce based on the theme of the challenge. There is no set image size, but please be courtious to viewers with slow modems. Post work is allowed in your images, as well as using imported modles(even those made by someone else). All entries are new images created for the challenge, please do not post old works(we like to keep you creative).
Contest entries will be posted "Monthly Challenge Entry" as the subject of the post.
Please do not post Works in Progress(WIP), just your final entry, becuase it tends to cause confusion during voting time.
Images will be put in a single thread at the end of the month and members may begin voting.
Please only vote for 1 image/artist-it also tends to get confusing when its time to add up the votes.
After the first of the month, the votes will be counted and the winner announced and given a award image they may use on their personal sites. They may also choose the theme for the next challenge.
