Subject: Poser8 Rendering Question

Anniebel ( ) posted Tue, 30 November 2010 at 9:02 AM · edited Sun, 02 February 2025 at 4:56 PM

I was doing a render today, when Poser8 just stopped/cancelled the render without an error message. I came back to check on the render process & the image was 3/4 done, but the render task bar had disappeared like when you hit cancel but I hadn't in this case. I finished the image by spot rendering the bottom 1/4, so I got the image done. Poser still functioned when I came back to it, so it hadn't locked up or crashed, but the image was incomplete. I am wondering why the render stopped & cancelled itself without an error message, does anyone have any experience with this? This has never happened to me in any other Poser version.

I've seen this behavior recently, while working on a fairly simple scene.  I had to save the scene and close P8 down, then start it up and open the scene fresh to get the full render to finish.  I put it down to having Poser open all day, and having too many unwanted textures loaded before trying to render. ;0)

Hi Anniebel, some times.  It's not a biggie for me.  My RAM just gets clogged up so I back out of Poser and do a re boot and do a clean up (delete temp, cache etc.).  It happens when I have high activity for a long time ( going into and out of Poser, Vue, Carrara).  I would suggest before doing any complex rendering, do the above first (clean out the garbage).  Jan

I am having the same problem also, I have cleaned out the temp cashe and shut poser down and restarted with no resolution to the issue. I even increased my bucket size in an effort to solve the problem. Is there anything else that can be done for this? I am running an i7 w/windows 7 and Poser 8 at the moment. I ahve PP10 loaded but am afraid to use it right now since I am having this issue with 8. I am running P8 in 32bit and have PP10 set for 64bit.

Have you defragged yet?  Jan

My last defrag was about 2 months ago but I ended up rendering the image in PP10 and it rendered without an issue the first time. I guess I need to break down and start messing around with PP10 and leave P8 alone. Not sure why PP10 did it so easily where P8 failed.
