Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 14 12:25 pm)
For those who want to try and register, here is an English translation. Click the image for a larger view.
"It is good to see ourselves as
others see us. Try as we may, we are never
able to know ourselves fully as we
are, especially the evil side of us.
This we can do only if we are not
angry with our critics but will take in good
heart whatever they might have to
say." - Ghandi
The first two aren't as tough (they're mainly tough because Babelfish/Google Translate mangles the question) but no matter that "three kanji" answer i give to where Tokyo is situated.. it's wrong.
So I hope for a less rigorous application (read: More gaijin-friendly although THAT has yet to be seen ;) ) in their new forum.

You just can't put the words "Poserites" and "happy" in the same sentence - didn't you know that? LaurieA

You're kidding right? They're asking for Chinese characters. I don't speak or type Chinese.

Kanji is "chinese characters" but they're also used in Japanese. If you look up "Japanese Era" on Wikipedia, it will tell you that the era before the Taishō was the Meiji era. And list the appropriate kanji as 明治
Then it's only a question of copy/pasting them :)
You don't need to read or write neither Chinese nor Japanese to copy and paste something ;)
And you CAN use Google Translate a good part of the way.
the second question is "are you a bot" (botsuto - because that's the literal katakana of the english word. Since Japanese is a syllabic "alphabet" they make an approximation when they use english words - similar to how I "translate" Trekkie to "terekii" (テレキㅡ) since that's close to the pronounciation.)
But the third one throws me off.. I've tried every thinkable combination of kanji that could in any way relate to Tokyo (again helped by Wikipedia)
So no, I wasn't kidding. Lots of stuff can be solved by copy and paste ^^

You still need to know the Chinese/Japanese characters to enter. Where do you get the answer for the second question?
And so far as entering the visual verification, there are no characters visible to me as you can see from the image above. Even when I open it in IE, the image shows a red x.

The answer to the second question is "no" which is iie ( いいえ ) in Japanese. Google Translate will again give it to you in a copy/paste-able form :)
But of course without the letters in the CAPTCHA it doesn't really matter what you type. I'm really puzzled why you can't make them show.
Just for the fun of it, I tried again and still can't register - but I do see the CAPTCHA as shown in the attached image (and it is the same letters no matter how many times I reload the page, which makes me believe the real problem lies there - their CAPTCHA is broken.

Hi, I'm admin of forum3d.
I'm sorry about inconvenience for registration.
The reason to change registration system is not intended to avoid non japanese people, but reject spammers.
Although we have some volunteer, forum3d is my private site and I have financially and leagally responsibility and maintain by myself.
Before new registration system, we had many spammer's posts with porn sites or images. (This is why many japanese poser related forums are closed now.)
And hosting service company does not allow adult site or showing such kind of images. If they think my site is violating thier TOS, they can shutdown the site without any notification.
I had to delete spam posts and reject their IPs almost everyday. I reject many Rusian and east europian IPs, but I can't reject US IPs because some of them are tight with japanese isp. So finally I changed registration system.
We started forum3d to recorde knowledge about Poser and other 3D software in japnese because we didn't have it that time.
If you do want to join us and can't register, please pm to my DAZ account (ytetsu).(I'm sorry but I don't check renderosity frequently.)
And those who want Kyotro's freebies (dynamic clothrs) in our site, you can download from her site in near future.
Quote - Odd about the CAPTCHA - I could see the letters just fine when I tried. I gave up though since it didn't matter.

I figured out why I can't see the visual verification letters. They don't show up in the translated page, but if I view it without translating, the letters are there.
ytetsu-san, if you could tell us what to put into the last question (where in Japan is the capital City), we would be able to register, I think. The Chinese characters for "Tokyo" and "East Coast" and "Japan" don't work.**

Quote - I registered successfully. Answer to question 3 is Tokyo Metropolitan Area, which is translated like this in japanese : 東京都 (tôkyô to)
Thanks. After entering that, I get a message saying that my user name and email have aleady been used. I sent for a new password, but more than 12 hours later, nothing.
I officially give up.

Should be something wrong or system glitch.

Thank you! I did manage to get logged in now! I sent you a reply PM because I can't figure out what to click to change the temporary password. Google Translate logs me out, and won't let me login.
I so wish I knew how to read/speak Japanese. I listen to a fair amount of Japanese music. I have no clue what the lyrics are, but it all sounds so beautiful! Kokia is one of my favourites!!

There's a notice up at the Forum3d.net website, informing of an impending server move, and requesting registered members to please log in before 07 January 2011, in order to continue their membership over at the new server.
I am guessing that apparently-abandoned accounts will be pruned.
Although it is a non-commercial community for Poser users, signing up is not an easy process, as many non-Japanese readers have found out (challenging registration process !).
So, for those who have been successful becoming members, please try logging in at least once before the deadline.
