How's this?  Give her some thigh length leather boots, put a whip in her hand, and she could be Burnadette in a temple with a whip.:b_tonguewink:

Maybe the problem at the back is because a JCM part for the abdomen was not chained with the part of the chest?
Either way, the figure/s is/are impressive. Those wings are looking great as well.
You should write a rigging bible :)

I would like to see a high-poly mesh with a rig that takes advantage of the new features in P8/PP2010.

Does the second skin need to have a high-poly mesh also?

If those things in the above Brad render are going to be a permenant feature, they will need to be rigged also. Otherwise they will (eventually) end up hanging down to Brad's knees.

Hi colorcurvature, Joel (how you been Joel?), lkendall,

coloecurvature: The problem there on the back of that figure was from not having the rig for the shoulder set up. It was a very old picture from a couple yers back I think. Glad you like the figure I have been using your script for all the morphs. I can even load morphs with it from the double poly second skin on to the single poly figure using the group setting. Its great!

Joel: Hi bud! Can I just rig the rigging prophet instead of being one?  LOL. I've learned a thing or two of the rigging, but don't want to be no prophet, prophets dont get paid.

lkendall:  Hi, how ya been? Busy I bet. The second skin is a feature. You can load the figure with it or not depending on if you are going to use it. It can also be loaded with different configurations depending on if you want just certain parts of the body with second skin or all of it. I am doing it that way because it is no good for straight renders, there is always a very slight shadow from the second skin on the edges of the figure in a straight render. But if you are using it for clothing or body hair or what not, you dont have that problem.

So no, the high poly figure does not need to have the second skin, but can if you wish. I really like the P-8 rigging on the high poly version. I have been working with it I can get many soft body deformations with it in addition to the straight JP bends. When it's done it will knock your socks off! It's a secret project (saving the best for last). But I am finishing up on the old school rigged figure now. It is low poly 19K if thats low.

cheers,

Mike.

EDIT:  Forgot to add the "things" get replaced with a cod piece. I have them in just for morph loading , because they sometimes catch a piece of the leg bend morphs.

JOELGLAINE ( ) posted Thu, 28 October 2010 at 3:51 PM

I never suggested you become a not-for-profit prophet. If there is anyway to profit from propheting, profit all you want to. All the Prophet is pure profit as far I care. I wasn't the prophet of greed, who said "Greed is good", I just think you are a kick-ass rigger who should make a profit at it. Just try not to be a profteer.

Whether you are a prophet or not!

"prophets dont get paid"  Sometimes prophets get paid, but usually with their own blood. And, the Greek ones seem to go blind, not a very desirable job. However, I do think your rigging points toward the future.  :)

"Forgot to add the "things" get replaced with a cod piece."  Actually I was refering to the twin "things" higher up at Brad's chest, with which, as you said, Brad was very unhappy.  :)

About the second skin, I was wondering if the high-poly version of Brad would need a high-poly second skin, or could a low-poly second skin work? Does the second skin use the same rig as the base figure?

LMK

Diogenes ( ) posted Thu, 28 October 2010 at 6:31 PM

You would need the high poly second skin. While this adds pseudo poly's it does not add any more vertices to the scene nor does it need it's own cr2 and bone setup. With the option of loading pieces of the suit and not the entire thing, it gives you a wide variety of choice. If for instance you only wanted the beard you can just load the apropriate parts and not the rest of the suit.  There are parts for cap, beard, face, lips and eye lids (part of the face) brows, tank top, T_shirt, full shirt, skivies, shorts, knickers, full pants, gloves, and shoes.

"However, I do think your rigging points towards the future. :)"

I do believe SM is putting together an antonia comparable figure with Miki 3 even as we speak. Perhaps more as well?

cheers.

I'm really excited about the P8 rigging!  If there's a way to get better joint handling out of Poser without resorting to JCMs, that's a huge step forward for Poser, IMO.  But we seem to need a breakthrough figure or an example before people will start exploring the new P8 possibilities.  (I know I'm a bit scared of them. )

I can't seem to manage much enthusiasm for Daz or SM figures.  We don't need more of those.  Bah, phooey.   We need more Brad and Antonia.

I don't want to burst bubbles and I have much respect for Teyon, but I have the latest test copy of Miki 3 and it's not anywhere near as good as Antonia or Brad.

They hired the wrong guy, IMO. Well - that's not exactly what I mean. What I mean is that clearly odf and phantom3D know more about figure bending than anybody else in this forum.

Of course, it's not finished so it's not fair for me to judge yet. And actually I'm just making an assumption that I'm seeing Teyon's work. Maybe I'm not.

Renderosity forum reply notifications are wonky. If I read a follow-up in a thread, but I don't myself reply, then notifications no longer happen AT ALL on that thread. So if I seem to be ignoring a question, that's why. (Updated September 23, 2019)

That's it!  Very little stretching even at 70 and 70 the hair stays looking like hair, even in the middle of the worst of the bend.

Last pic. Here the leg is bent at 80 X and 80 Z and you can see the texture is starting to stretch at this point. That's the best I could get. So up to an 80 degree bend in both directions you can have hair or moles or whatever and they will not get distorted.

phantom3D stretch free. I'm pretty proud of that you can tell.  :) It was dang hard to do, and has to be built in to the figure.

I do have a couple of children just barely started. Cory and Darlene, I will need to update them to the latest mesh. I am not sure when I might be able to get to them. This figure I started 3 years ago, LOL. But you see I started as a complete new, didn't even know what a polygon was. So the learning of it all has taken me the most time.

The next figures should take much less time. Nice to see you.

Ah, I saw the link in your signature and just assumed. :P Anyway, you're work looks very nice and I look forward to its completion; hopefully it gets enough merchant support to compete with the DAZ figures...or at the very least an XDresser license and some Lyrra Madril magnets.

I heavily work with kids in my artwork, so I'm glad to hear that you're working on that, too. Even if they don't completely displace K4 in my artwork, it's nice to have options, especially considering how narrow the options are with K4--especially the body. :/

RAMWolff here's a link to the Antonia thread    ANTONIA   The site has been undergoing some changes so that may be the reason you are not getting the ebots.

Zaarin: Thanks, glad you like the figure. As for merchant support, I don't expect there will be much. Hence the reason I am doing displacement map clothes and geometry insertion, makes it easier for the user to make their own clothing etc. The same for the kids I plan, can't really compete with Daz, it would take years of work to get close.  But it is fun to make things, and some of my ideas may be wild but Daz or SM might like some of them and use them, it sort of pushes the technology in a way.

210x2: Yes that has been one of my goals from the beggining was to do something about texture stretching. I remember buying some gorgeous textures from Lobo75 back a few. They were so perfect but would just get ruined if you bent the figure very much. Morris too, had some of my favs.

lkendall:  Didn't really know if the idea would work untill now, it takes the cooperation of the whole figure to make it work. I was pretty surprised it worked as well as it does. It is a process that involves the way the mesh is built, the way it is rigged, the way it is UV mapped and the texturing process itself. But once it's in place it works automatically with the figure bending. The thighs were the hardest, the shoulders are close to set up for it now too so I'll show some more pics when I get them done.

cheers.
