Vue F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Dec 30 8:14 pm)
Well, I'll send it off to Cindy, Steve, even though this is really simplistic... Anyway, yes Sharen, they're definitely great flowers and already I'm thinking of a couple of serious projects to do with them.... Martial, I've loaded the obj and the 3ds, and honestly, I gotta talk to Cindy cause they ain't happening, and I want to know how to get it to happen for Bryce, which I still use...
For Tradivoro:would you mean obj and 3ds not load in Vue?(sorry,i am not an english speaking person)Because i use VUe 4.1 and all the formats are loading for me.The mesh in obj is very detailled ,more than the vob one but the texture is better displayed in vob format.I also try it in Truespace5 and in Carrara. In Bryce 4 ,i have loaded obj format but the rendering is very dark.I prefer the rendering in Vue:nice colors, more natural ones
No, it's in Bryce that the uploads are a problem, both in 3ds and obj.... I didn't bother uploading the 3ds or obj versions in Vue since they had the vob version which looks great for all the flowers I've checked thus far... But in Bryce it's a problem... I've been sending Cindy a couple of pictures done in bryce, as a matter of helping out, and she sent me one back of the obj format which was much better than the original... So, I'm not complaining, I'm just acting as sort of beta tester and maybe help to make the 3ds and obj in bryce better... I'll tell you one thing, I rendered the 3ds in 3D studio max and it looked great... So, I don't know what's going on in Bryce...
If I'm not mistaken, you can simply adjust the transparency level (and perhaps luminosity) on the VOB materials. AFAIK, Steve used the same materials on the VOB conversions that the OBJ and 3DS use, but he set them up specifically for Vue's various settings. So hey, don't be afraid to tweak the settings to your taste. :) And Steve, I'm waiting for that Food collection, too. Wouldn't want you to forget about that. Would be perfect for this month's Theme. grin
Hey, Cindy has Vue4 now...and she loves it! So she will be doing the food CD... As for the Vue Flowers, there are a couple here and there where the uv mapping came out a little differently after being converted from the original Lightwave, and I just couldn't couldn't get around it with either Polytrans or 3D Exploration. I Don't actually have Lightwave, but I know that the trouble is in how Cindy set up some of the surfaces. She's working on correcting that, and there may be an update at some point. None of the Vue4 flowers actually use transparency. That would increase their render time too much. Instead, I simulated their translucent nature by setting them as "single sided", turning on the "Backlight" function, and increasing the "luminescence" setting. -SMT
I'd rather stay in my lane than lay in my stain!
Well, a VOB is a Vue OBject, and an OBJ can be an Imagine OBJect or (more familiarly) a Wavefront OBJect, and a 3DS is a 3D Studio object. They are all 3D model object formats, but each format is different. VOB can only be opened by Vue. Wavefront OBJ and 3DS can be opened by a variety of programs. :)
newbie here, where do you get these flowers? They are pretty!
