There are add-ons for FF that will help, but even so it's more effort than most people can be bothered with for areas they don't spend much time in.

For the front page the colours aren't really the problem, for that it's the content and layout.
The situation for the RMP is similar, but the colours will have some effect, the consequences of which the merchants will bear.

"Hi Stacey

I notice a little thing in the Gallery, where the page numbers are, there is no maker anymore to what page you are on. Kind of makes it hard when your going though the pages not knowing what page you are on when you want to go to the next page.
Kim"

I agree with Kim.  It is nearly impossible to tell what page you are on.  The slightly lighter colored font is not enough when it is being displayed over a gradiant background.

Has anyone written a hack, similar to those the last change prompted, to change that distractive blue background to a more muted tone?

Blue is fine in the forum pages and home page but please consider that a person walking into a real world gallery would never see bright blue walls behind displayed art.  It tricks the eyes and makes color discernment within the image very unfair to the art.

Programmers need to be aware of color wheel basics better, imho.

CarolSassy ( ) posted Fri, 08 July 2011 at 12:43 PM

Stacey,

I have a question.  Did the programmers talk to any artists before they made the decision to change these colors?  Honestly, I'm just curious. lol (:

The beta site was shown to vendors first before we released the beta link to the general membership.

The width of the table cell that contains the user avatar, and some other user info, seems to have changed to a ridiculous width of about 273 pixels (viewed in FireFox at 1024x768 screen res).

cherokee69 ( ) posted Fri, 08 July 2011 at 2:58 PM

Sometime when I click a link to open a thread or go to another page in a thread I'm reading, It just sits there "Waiting on Renderosity".

StaceyG ( ) posted Fri, 08 July 2011 at 3:06 PM

Les, I just contacted the programmer about this issue.

lesbentley ( ) posted Fri, 08 July 2011 at 3:13 PM · edited Fri, 08 July 2011 at 3:14 PM

This is a link.

Before the changes, a link like the above would have been underlined, which is a standard HTML way to make it obvious that it is a link. Since the changes, links are no longer underlined. In my opinion this is bad praxis an can create unnecessary confusion.

markschum ( ) posted Fri, 08 July 2011 at 7:29 PM · edited Fri, 08 July 2011 at 7:35 PM

dunno if this is a bug or not but in the past I could use a bookmark to go to rendo forums page and be logged in magically. Now it doesnt do that , and when I do log in I get the home page, not the forum page I was at.  Thats 1 extra click after logging in , so two clicks (TWO) that I now have to deal with.

😉

StaceyG ( ) posted Fri, 08 July 2011 at 8:01 PM

I'll check on this Monday Mark and I'll also see about the link thing Les

boobunny ( ) posted Fri, 08 July 2011 at 10:50 PM

Regarding what Les is talking about, you can see this in the galleries, when someone links to a product they used.  Only the vendor's name is underlined like it is clickable, the product itself looks as if we can not click to go to the product.  I didnt no try clicking it however because it was not underlined.  I should go try that to see.

Regarding the left hand table cell width. After my post pointing out that it was too wide, the width of this cell has decreased from about 273 to about 223 pixels. Are the programmers blind? I'm not certain but I though the maximum avatar width was 130 pixels. So why is the cell taking up so much realestate that could be better used for the posts? Surely a cell width of the maximum avatar width plus 10 pixels would be adequate! If the maximum avatar is 130, then the cell width could be 140 pixels, this would also allow a user name of 18 characters without wrapping, which is surely enough. Even if the maximum avatar was 150, that would only need a cell of 160 pixels.

Probably not, but they are something else when it comes to HTML layout and use of CSS.

Quote - I'm not certain but I though the maximum avatar width was 130 pixels. So why is the cell taking up so much realestate that could be better used for the posts? Surely a cell width of the maximum avatar width plus 10 pixels would be adequate!

Well the cell is sytled with a width of 150 pixels.

The problem is that for some reason (which I haven't completely figured out yet) FF is expanding that cell.
It would appear to be something to do with the message cell not being wide enough.
I had to set it's width to 90% in my stylesheet to stop the avatar cell growing beyond what's necessary, as no variation of sizing the avatar cell itself would work.

CarolSassy ( ) posted Sat, 09 July 2011 at 3:08 PM

Has anyone posted any codes to set up the colors the way they want someplace at the site?  Will they work or have the programmers overrode them all with their new programming?

The gadgets on the right (calendar, etc) are overlapping the item list in Account ! Item List.

You cannot seen anymore what has been updated

wimvdb ( ) posted Sun, 10 July 2011 at 9:26 AM

Also the download links are not set to "visited" when you download an item from your account page.

It did on the old site and was very convenient to see what you already downloaded. Now you cannot.

What is this site getting from ajax.googleapis.com ?  my browser just started spitting out alerts about this site as a security problem and I have allowed it to block the site. I dont know if thats going to allow renderosity site to run or not.

There are two other sites as well but they seem to be advertising sources. The ajax.googleapis.com seems to be loading scripts :(

Larry F ( ) posted Mon, 11 July 2011 at 9:04 AM

Everything seems to work fine for me and I've gotten used to the color change. I go to so many sites that different looks stopped bothering me ages ago, unless they are just too awful to take, which this certainly is not.

I'm having more or less the same issue as lesgraham, though, in that I keep getting signed off. usually after just a few minutes of no clicking, i.e., as little as 5-7 minutes, but seems to be more around 8-10 (I know, big difference). I use tabs a lot, so jumping from site to site doesn't "take me away" from Rosity per se, but this is kind of annoying, having to continuously re-log in.

I'm on Win 7 Pro, Firefox latest and find no provisions in My Profile to effect a change to "stay logged on". This issue did not exist for me before the new change.

And . . . I can live with it, LOL!

But now you know.

Thanks.

Where, exactly does it lie?  Thanks in advance.
