Any word on DAZ3D Advanced for version 4? Any idea on price...

I've been playing with DAZ3D 4 and I like it very much. Even more then Poser 7...

Prior to DAZ3D 4 I was considering on purchasing Poser Pro from Purplus for $49 but would like to hold off until more info on DAZ3D Advanced is released....

Cheers

Ken

I have PP- I've DS3A, Carrara 8 among other programs.  I've attempted DS4.  I've worked in DS for the first three and a half, four years of my rendering experience before going into PP and my honest opinion would be to hold off on purchasing DS4A.

Honestly, if I wanted to spend that sort of money on an application I would go for a more advanced or widely used program.  I'm no longer working in DS unless I feel a need too, and any more purchases of programs will definitely be going toward Modo, or Vue, or Maya.  I'm a hobbiest, true, but I would really like to get the main-stream production products with the amount of money I've already put into this "hobby".

Not only for the programs, but the plug-ins.  The additions, the special features for lighting sets, ect.  In the end, you can spend much more money trying to get that quality of a higher-end, broader program without even realizing it.  I sat down and counted out my various purchases for the program I stared on  (DS) and trust me...I could have had an up to date, kicking application that would sit side by side with the big boys over the past four/five years.

My next upgrade will go that direction or upgrading the system.

In the end, it's what you want to wait for.  How you plan on using your artwork, and if you want to step over the bridge from just making pictures to getting your hands into the nitty gritty of it all.  Me?  I want the nitty gritty. ;)

Good luck on your decision!

well kenmo i've been using daz since 1.7 and have 2.3, 3.1A, and 4.0 on my pc there are pluses to each of them but i've found ds3.1A the best bet so far sure with the pop out window for the render engine its a little less memory hoggish.  but there are some things that i've tried loading into ds4 that only parts of show up in it as it is now.

and i'm not too sure if they've fixed it yet but last time i tried rendering a texture with normals maps in it it would crash every time.  but keep an eye on it and see how it progresses and what avid daz users think of it then figure out if you want it

IIRC DS4 is coming in 4 versions, the free basic version (hasn't been released yet), standard version for $50 (it's free till end of July), advanced version (no price yet but $100 would be low level guess), and a Pro version (sky's the limit for the price on this one).

Despite being a DS user since 1.3 and getting DS3A the day it was released ( I was a public beta tester and wanted the 64 bit & shader mixer), I wont be touching DS4 with a ten foot pole, project X & the ds4 beta's were enough to tell me that it's a pile of garbage, with and interface designed by an idiot for kids to use.

Yeah, I have tried Daz 4, and I like Daz 3A better! I know how everything works and I don't have to hunt for where they hid the old ways of doing things!

Oh well!

DS4 is still a mistake for now!  released way to soon! just to start the daz milk cow.

just another unfinished dazprogram.  sell first then repair = bad business.

Remember Carrara 8? still no manual for it, still nasty bugs.

& they think of Carrara 9. probably without a manual too :cP

DS4 userinterface, is a no GO! why the daz guys waste there time on new interface.

DS3 interface was good! better spent the time on new tools.

who was the daz team idiot, with this idea?
the autofit tool, it only work half/ half. impossible to use it for shoes, boots, with morphs.

still no dynamic cloth creation tool,  Daz promised it's users this tool 2 years ago.

optitex is just one $$$ making optitex case.

no cloth creation by other users possible without cloth creation tool.

remember guys no Animation features in dazstudio Advanced 4.

all the animators who thought to make funny movies, forget it!

daz people have said that this probably only occurs from DSA5

What a waiste om my 3d time guys,

Hope the new poser program do much better and more professional.
