Then ...
Let's play "hide-an-seek" using the Hierarchy Editor.
We can hide/unhide lots of object real fast.
Then ...
Let's hide everything ... except ... the objects we are going to use ...
Then ... let's find out ...

Note - An Object's position in the list DOES NOT define a hierarchy.
A Parent/Child relationship defines the hierarchy.
When we "parent" one object to another object, e.g., parent the fwd land gear to the MAIN BODY, we still have two separate objects ... but ... the fwd land gear will now move, scale, and rotate when the MAIN BODY's parameters are changed.
CAUTION: The fwd land gear, i.e., the child, can still be moved, scaled, or rotated by itself with no effect on the parent object. >>> The child may be moved out of it's desired position. <<<
Now let's "attach" the fwd land gear to the MAIN BODY so that it will move with the MAIN BODY of the FlyingWing.
CLICK on the object (the child) to be parented to another object (the parent) and DRAG it to the parent. This establishes the hierarchy of these two objects.
Can you guess what is ... Next ... ??????????
(hint - the answer is on the image)

Same to you - this is a great tutorial, by the way. Very simple to follow - it's like I'm seeing a mystery solved right in front of my eyes. I'm looking forward to using this knowledge not only on the flying wing, but also on some other things I've made that are so far just static props. I can't thank you enough for sharing.

You may not want to thank me yet things around here may start to get a bit "sticky" when we start talking about Poser's figures ... but ... well ... who knows ... we may just solve a few more mysteries before we get through.
Thanks for staying ... tuned in.

Now, let's venture into the notorious Setup Room ... :scared: ___ YAAAA !!!
There's no bones about it, the Setup Room can be pretty scary but only because we don't know what's in there. Let's go find out ... :blink:___ Uh, er, ok, I think ???
Da NaySayGuy hates the Setup Room ... he may not be joining us whilst we are in there. ........... (YAY !!! )
Actually, there are bones in the Setup Room ... that's why we're going there. Next ...

We will go back to the Pose Room to create a simple new figure.
Our new figure will be named Baldy because he won't have any hair.
We will create Baldy in the Pose Room and then take him into the Setup Room where we find out about "Posorthopedics" ... that is ... we will create some bones.
Creating "Baldy" ... Next ...

... using the Bone Creation Tool.
Gosh, that was so much fun ... ... let's make some more bones ... Next ...
After you have made some bones ...

Create 2 bones for our figure.
We can create the bones in any position and then...
... move them into the location we want.
Use the different camera views to adjust the bones.
Then use the Main Camera and rotate the view around the figure
to make sure the bones are positioned correctly.
Now we can go back to the Pose Room and pose our figure. ... Next ...
Remember ... "With Poser, all things are possible, and poseable!"

Anyhow, something is missing, obviously. ... (Do you know what it is?)
We need to go back to the Setup Room in order to fix it.
(a blessing in discuise, NaySay won't be following us into the Setup Room)
We just need to know the "secret" ... i.e., the "missing link" ... ... Next ...
Remember ... "With Poser, all things are possible, and poseable!"

Fix the link(s) and then take your figure back to the Pose Room and see if it is now poseable.
Yes?

Wow! This is all coming together great! Thanks so much, Doc. Over in the UV Mapper forum, UV Dan is helping me get my textures straightened out. Yeah, I had a problem with that, too. Like I said to him, it sure seems like I made a messy model.
I'm taking the steps he's outlining to help me with that, and saving them as a PowerPoint presentation so I can take a good, long look at them later. I'm doing the same with everything you're showing me - saving it to view in-depth later. With work, and home/family responsibilities, I haven't had a lot of time to work on it the last couple of days, but I'm hoping to be able to do so within the next day or so.

Try posing Baldy with the "Bend" function (not the parameter dial) ... ON & OFF ...
Try turning the "Bend" function OFF for the Hip, also, and see what happens when Baldy's Abdomen gets "posed."

Hi Dr Geep - how are you? I hope all is going well and you're doing okay. I've been waiting for the next segment for deatails on the joint editor, but haven't heard anything for a few days. I hope you're doing okay, and thanks again for this tutorial!
