Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 05 9:36 pm)
Quote - To those testing the new Poser, did DAZ's new DSF format make it into the program?
I think you might have to ask that on the RNDA site.
I use Poser 13 on Windows 11 - For Scene set up I use a Geekcom A5 - Ryzen 9 5900HX, with 64 gig ram and 3 TB storage, mini PC with final rendering done on normal sized desktop using an AMD Ryzen Threadipper 1950X CPU, Corsair Hydro H100i CPU cooler, 3XS EVGA GTX 1080i SC with 11g Ram, 4 X 16gig Corsair DDR4 Ram and a Corsair RM 100 PSU . The desktop is in a remote location with rendering done via Queue Manager which gives me a clearer desktop and quieter computer room.
Thanks, I found the appropriate thread over at RDNA.
The answer is no.
It may be left to 3rd party translators.
I got the impression that DAZ were expecting at least an importer from SM, having made hints (maybe even statements) about supplying SM with the genesis/DSF format months ago.

"Interface difficulty" is highly subjective and IMO should not be brought up when comparing DS and Poser, because even though I use Poser as my main app, I find DS very intuitive and better organized. I do heavily modify the interface though, I can agree the initial layout is quite cluttered, but the option to customize it is there.

I get the impression by the time Daz supplied that information, SM already were very advanced in their own weight mapping coding....
"And who gives a rat's butt?"
It's not pointed out to harp. It's pointed out because sometimes it makes posts hard to read.
Use of 's for plurals and it's for its (possessive) is all over the Internet, and makes things hard to read.
When someone writes "DAZ made Genesis only work in it's program" there is confusion. "DAZ made Genesis work in it is program? Huh? It is what?"
The same for plural words written with 's. "These program's don't all have an easy to learn interface." There is confusion "these program's what...what thing that is part of the program doesn't have an easy interface."
It slows down reading, creates confusion, and pointing it out may let someone know it's a mistake so they write more clearly next time.

I believe there was a mention at RDNA about Daz having the Poser SDK.
As a software company, I believe Daz makes very nice 3d figures, as far as their software, not so much.
Not impressed with what they've done with Carrara and Hex, and I've never had any version of Studio loaded on my system for longer than a week. If Genesis isn't fully functional in Poser, then I'll pass.
Quote - Not one of those images was rendered in Daz Studio - all of the images say he used Reality. Which means rendered in LuxRender.
Back on topic, I stand corrected (thanks, BB). I would be interested in seeing some of DAZ|Studio's best artists' work, but I don't have time to go hunting for it right now. I know what kind of results I can get from Poser, and I'll get even better results with the new material nodes.
As an attempt to preempt more defensiveness, I would like to point out that there are two features from DAZ|Studio 4 that I'm REALLY happy to see have made their way to Poser 9/Pro 2012: frame selected and orbit selected. Now if we could convince SM to also allow for easier hotkey customization (an area where DAZ|Studio sails right past Poser), I'd be happier than a monkey at a banana buffet :)

All of the promo images by Joelegecko at DAZ are done in DAZ Studio, and Dreamlight is also very experienced with DAZ Studio animation and lighting. I consider them to be two of the best DAZ Studio artists.
I work exclusively in Studio too, although most of my recent works have been simple tests. You can still get an idea of my more 'serious' stuff in my gallery here if you feel like it. :)

I do not speak as a representative of DAZ, I speak only as a long-time member here. Be nice (and quit lying about DAZ) and I'll be nice too.
Well, I might as well throw in a curve ball.... I'll be switching TO Poser from Daz. I feel I got burned with DS3A, they never fixed all the bugs, still twitches and flashes on my machine. So I'm not eager to throw money at them again for software I can't use. Not to mention the many plugins I had. So, I loaded up Poser 7 and I'm trying to learn that. Any body able to point me to some great beginner tuts? lol

Dontcha worry....any questions you have can be answered right here. I imagine it's a big leap from DS to Poser (as it was for me from Poser to DS - so big I couldn't swing it...lol). Anyway, welcome to the fold
Oh, and I guess I should mention that if you are a Reality user, there is a Poser equivalent - Pose2Lux. I just thought I'd throw that out there...lol. It's free btw ;)
