Subject: Daz studio does not read a mt5 file made in poser? importing issues help!

whitemagus ( ) posted Mon, 03 October 2011 at 6:24 PM · edited Thu, 23 January 2025 at 4:17 PM

Hi

Does anyone know why the mt5 does not appear inside the daz in the content library?

The files are in the runtime...materials folder in the right place but they don't appear inside the dazstudio. And has a result the a cr2 figure does not load it gives error in the end.

and the mc6 appear just fine it is in daz studio 4

Thanks

"mt" files are for POSER only and will not work in DAZ I know nothing of "mc" files. i use only a PC not a mac so i may be wrong on the mt files if you are useing a mac.  If there is a "mt" file in the dl I do not even try to load it knowing it does not work in DAZ

It seams to be  a bug in Daz studio 4 standard because I tryed some old cr2 that would load and now they dont!

MT5 & MC6 are Poser Material files, DS has never used (or even seen) them as they contain Poser propriatory shaders. In CR2/PP2/HR2/PZ2 etc that contain P5+ materials you'll find that DS ignores everything in the shader tree part of the material, only reading the old P4/PP part of the material.

It's why Poser materials look crap in DS and why most DS users have to learn how to adjust the surface settings.

Thanks Bejaymac

I was starting to get that conclusion! so it is nessecary to make new materials for daz every time you get a poser content, humm, that is not that good.

Not being able to see Mt5/MC6 files (which in any event DS4 can now do, though it still reads only the basic settings and ignores the ShaderTree section) shouldn't have anything to do with a CR2 failing to load. Exactly what error are you getting?

whitemagus ( ) posted Tue, 04 October 2011 at 2:51 PM

the cr2 starts to load and then it simply crashes, if I load the external geometrie .obj it loads fine.

yes I have been trying the DS4 now and yes, he does read some mat files from poser but just the basic, in resume to get a proper shader one have to redo it again, I made some shaders then I can apply them on the props has I load them since they all have the same shaders, ...

don't know if this is the best option...

Yes, Shader presets ar good choices if you want to reuse the same settings on different items. Which CR2 is it that causes a crash? I have come across a few things in the past that can throw the importer, though I think many of them have been fixed.

thanks RHaseltine

Nop I used the importer and it does not work for this .cr2

I made the cr2 in poser pro 2010 from props and it does not have bones not rigged I am wondering if it might be it.

Also I dont use the DS I am trying to now.

Not having a boned figure in the CR2 could well cause problems, though I haven't tested it.

yes I am most certain now that the problem is not having bones.
