Subject: SuicideGirlz

I see these used to be sold in the store but were removed due to copywrite concerns.

Just curious... anyone know the story... was it the girls themselves or was it the name "borrowing"?

Probably the term SuicideGirlz is copyrighted or trademarked (I'm guessing the latter).

It was the girls themselves. The mesh from daz's  v4  default texture  had been stolen and slightly enhanced and passed off as his own. He had also used merchants products such as rebel mommys eyes and passed them also off as his own and also I believe the tattoos were copyrighted. So basically people, inc myself were duped by this man into buying the sam things twice. What disgusted people was the fact he befriended rebelmommy only to betray her by stealing  her product then passing them as his own

originalkitten is right, the tattoos where taken from flash and used without permission of the artist(s). Flash (a term for tattoo sketches) is artwork like any other painting and, even as a tattoo artist, you have to buy them or they are traded (the artists swap their flash or give them away to collegues as a gift), some are made exclusivly for one customer or an artist keeps them for himself and his customers. However: Even making or getting a copy of a tattoo (that's already in the skin) published in a magazine is considered unethical as long as we do not talk about classic motives like the "Mom & Dad heart" or such. Flash printed in a magazine can freely be used - but only for tattoos.

The fact that at least one of the figures was covered with skulls by Paul Booth made me suspicious as soon as I saw it for the first time...

Yep dirty wasn't the half of it. He set up a website proclaiming his innocence saying he didn't realise he had used those items and they must have just slipped in there! Bet he didn't inhale either ( and he never answered where Amys (RM) eyes had come from considering he hadn't purchased them. ) I was so upset by this because 1) Amy is a good friend and 2) we had all been sucked in. I loved the girls and was collecting each one and obv it stung to hve been conned.

Wow... I had no idea. I'm not knowledgable enough to recognize eyes and what not... I just "Like" the Girls (on Facebbok) and was surprised to see the "cancelled" products and am amazed at the whole inking thing. I'm 53 and inking still has that "holy Poop" bad fanny mistique to it for us elderly folk. (And no... I don't pay to look at them on the Girlz page). I hate creepy old married guys and I doan wanna be one.

Don't let me get started about those tattoos - it was so obvious that they are pasted on and not painted and they avoid the most problematic stretching areas. I mean: No real tattoo sleeve looks like what I saw there... You do not cut off the tattoo in real life just because you come close to the shoulder and if you tattoo a complete leg why stay away from the inner leg (well... maybe because it hurts a lot)?! So what I saw was more some fantasy bodypainting or whatnot but a tattoo.

Yay about the creepy old guys and good decision to stay a dignified gentleman. But the real Suicide Girls can be seen here and there in serious tattoo magazines as well. I myself prefer to go to tattoo conventions for studies (does that mean that I am a dirty old woman?!).

Interesting. I didn't notice thee tattoo cut offs. They looked pretty cool to me... but
I got to the cancelled products from Google so I only saw a few and don't know how to get back to them. No matter I guess. I won't ask who the guy was.... though I doubt he hangs out here much anyway how long ago did this happen?

If you want to have a look at retired products you can always try to type the creator and/or product name into google, maybe together with the term Renderosity and you should be able to see at least the main promo and product site, in the case of Mila you can even see the front and rear view with the arms I was talking about. I tend to do this here and there to look at products I've once bought and that are not longer available (for instance to find out if they hold that piece of clothing I have in mind for an image). Sometimes that is easier than loading each and everything into the scene just to find out that I was looking for something else.

You ask when this all happened... just do a forum search - or let me do it for you:

All in a whole I always recommend (and did it before) to have a look on a plain texture (her V4) and check where the seams are. If you see an appealing texture and find that the tattoos or any other decoration crosses the seams (okay: as far as we talk about large things like the characters we are talking about) you can at least say that more work than simple cut-and-paste went into the creation. If you want something like the mentioned characters just for your personal use (this is important as long as you use textures you've bought and like - you are not allowed to redistribute them!!) you can as well take a graphic app and create your own texture by staying away for the seams . This is not hard to do, as more as you can find ready-made tattoos as resources in the marketplace (that even allow commercial use) to paste in.

I've found tattoos on skin textures tend to really kinda suck.. :)

However!!! SaintFox, I gotta admit, I love the ones you put on Tenshi for TY2, because they actually are blended in, and not just so jarringly "painted on" and looking like henna. :)

Your creation is a major reason for my TY2 character Miyuna looking so damn awesome. :D

In fact they ARE painted on - but not pasted on, this may be the difference. If you look around you'll find more tattooed characters where you can easily see that the tattoo is not only a layer pushed over a basic texture but where someone really handpainted on the skin and blended the result carefully.
