Content Advisory! This message contains profanity

As cute as this might seem, that dog is a) scared shitless and b) not too far from being ready to bite.

Dogs are not people, that dog is not feeling "guilty" - he's trying to tell his owner "please don't hurt me" (physically or emotionally, no difference).  Also pretty depressing that the guy uses the kennel as a punishment - what about when he brings the dog to the vet or a groomer and they kennel him?

Yeah, reminds me of my coonhound. He could look soooo guilty and remorseful. He'd sit outside and peek through the dog door waiting for a sign of forgiveness (which didn't take very long, cause he was so darned cute), then blast back in doing happy-circles.

Kirby crimes: taking 9 (yes, 9) cans of cat food outside and chewing holes in them, then sucking out the food... opening the fridge and eating every meat and dairy product he could find (and leaving the door open), and eating an entire blueberry pie that was cooling on the counter.

Dang, I miss that dog.

I agree! Poor doggie :(

I disagree. There's no evidence that the dog is mistreated and therefore afraid of his owner. We will put our dogs outside if they misbehave in the house. That's not much different than a kennel. If they fight with each other we've made them spend the night in their crates right next to each other to get them back to getting along. And one of my dogs has that same smile. Talk to her and she'll show you her teeth. That also works as a bonus when there's a stranger outside the gate and they think she's snarling at them. (I want people afraid to enter the property unannounced). And you should see how one of my dogs puts her head and tail down and drags her feet when she really does not want to go outside. You'd swear she was looking at a paddle or something. It's just their way of interacting with us. (and she does not like going out in the snow sometimes)

I didn't say "mistreated", but yeah it's pretty blatantly obvious the dog is terrified of his owner.  If your dog bares its teeth at you, that is not a friendly or cute behavior - I mean I guess there might be some exceptions somewhere or other in the entire population of dogs everywhere, but raised lips/bared teeth pretty much always means "getting ready to bite, get away from me."

That's true in many cases but not always.  (on the baring teeth)  When I come home, Emma is all butt tail wag and smiles.  She even responds when I say, "smile".   My mom had a dog that smiled too.

Dogs know when they're in trouble just as a toddler would.  They don't like that feeling any more than a human does.  My Emma is the smartest damned dog I have ever seen. When they were both in their dog run they were getting out somehow.  To see where they were getting out, my husband put Emma in, walked away and called her.  She wouldn't move.  So he put Molly in.  Molly doesn't have Emma's intelligence at all so when he called her, she showed him exactly where they were getting out.  Emma knew better.  She's even plotted her escape from the property, digging closer and closer to the fence as the battery in her electronic fence collar went low over several days.  If that dog had opposable thumbs...     :)

Generally because they're afraid of incoming punishment.  Dogs (and animals in general) really do not "fake it" when they show fearful behavior, they're genuinely afraid.  That's a scared dog in that video.

Poor dog!  I remember mine doing that whenever I would ask him that question... no matter if he did anything bad or not.  The guilty look, the teeth and the snarls.  I finally stopped asking him, because of that!  And sheesh, if you leave the blasted cookies, don't act surprised if Mr Dog takes them!!!

Sorry, I could not laugh about this...

Well I can tell you that the worst "punishment" our dogs get is being sent outside.  No one in this house so much as spanks a dog and they will still show that they know they've been busted if caught getting into the garbage or sleeping on the sofa.  Dogs are pretty smart and learn to interact with humans.  It's why mine instantly jump off the couch in the mornings when I come into the room and the worst they've gotten for being up there is me telling them to "get down".   Just like a kid caught climbing up to get a cooking out of the cookie jar when they know they shouldn't.

If you ever trained a dog or had one, you know this isn't cute at all. This dog is threatened and is ready to strike, I would say it's the camera. It avoids direct eye contact to avoid a situation with the alpha male. A quilty dog behaves differently. This dog is cornered and threatened by the situation, whatever triggers it.

Our dog exhibits this behaviour when the vacuum tube gets to close. If I go any closer when she does this, she will attack the tube. If she has done something wrong, she behaves very differently.

I posted a comment at youtube, but the person has the settings to pre-approve comments.  He obviously didn't like mine, because it was never approved.

He must only be approving the ones that find his abuse of that poor dog, funny.

EDIT: I just posted another comment. Let's see if he approves it or not.

Again, I didn't say mistreatment was involved, I said the dog's scared.  I can't even speculate why.

bah, short edit timer

I mean seriously, look at the situation in the vid: guy leaves stinky food out where the dog can get to them.  Dog gets to them and does what he's evolved to do (eat food).  Guy punishes dog - for eating.  If that were your situation, would you a) punish the dog for eating, or b) put the damn food up where the dog can't get to it?  Would you want your dog to be afraid to eat?
