Subject: Poser Pro 2012 no ground shadows

mauk ( ) posted Mon, 12 December 2011 at 4:24 AM · edited Sun, 02 February 2025 at 1:01 PM

With a background picture I see shadows but render no shadows on the ground.
I selected ground material and chosen only catch shadows, and in the render settings I selected cast shadows.
Where am I doing wrong?

Forgive my bad English

Which lights? Are they raytraced light? How many lights?

Ok RobynsVeil the same light use with poser pro 2010 without problem and the same setting render.

Thank for reply

Try this: one light, infinite, raytraced shadows.

Display: Ground shadows enabled.

Work your way from simple to more complex.

Is the ground visible in the properties tab?  If the ground visible box is unchecked then your lights will not cast shadows on the ground.

Hi FightingWolf I tried it with ground visible, visible raytracing  and visible Cam but I can not see the shadows in rendering.

Thank's for reply

sometimes it  helps to select the light and go up to the top and click on element style and click texture shaded.  Then change the size of the light from 100% to 5000 (don't worry it doesn't affect the light intensity or anything) then try some different camera views eg top camera.  what you will probably find is that the light is halfway through the ground and you need to increase the Y axis to 10 or something.

In PP 2012 (which I know you don't have) there is an open GL preview you can see which actually shows you how your shadows are going to look in the scene. It is very useful.

OK estherau use poser poser pro in 2012 and use the version 4, I always have photo rendering of the background and I never had problems with shadows on the ground, I have these problems only with pp2012.

Thank's for reply

go to display at the top of your window, look down near the bottom to preview drawing - if set on scree change to open GL

does that help at all?

OK I solved with ground visible, in the panel by selecting materials checked shadow catch only.

Thanks to all
