Mike (Phantom3D) and Cage and their team have been working like crazy to finish a weight mapped version of V4.  I thought I'd share some test renders since it's out of Beta and almost ready for distribution.  I encourage other beta testers to share renders here as well.

First I want to show how the breast bones work. This render shows V4 with an NGM morph and her arms down.  Next I'll post a render with her arms up so you can see the movement by opening the images in different tabs.

Here's the arms up render.

Mike and Cage have really outdone themselves with this figure.  They've re-rigged her and given her extra bones for better bending. I'd say she bends almost as good as Antonia-WM which is really amazing when compared to how the basic V4 bends.

How hard is it to get the new rigging into V4? Sorta simple or lots of hoop jumping? LOL

Another render.  There are no correction morphs used. Just bending :)

Through a script that's done by Cage.  Simply select your figure and the weight pose and helper bones that come with the pack.  The script does all the work and you're left with a fully weight mapped V4 in your scene :)  It's really simple and quick.

Just to be clear, this conversion will work in Poser 9, and PoserPro 2012.

The task of staying within the limits set by DAZ3D, so as to protect their intellectual property, required a lot of creativity, and made this project particularly difficult. But it was felt that Poser users deserve figures that take advantage of the full feature set of P9/PP2012. Many Poser people have a large investment in V4, and V4~WM is another compelling reason to update to Poser 9 and PoserPro 2012.

A great deal of work has been put into making sure that things work as simply as possible. The V4~WM Crew at PoserPlace has put an heroic amount of effort into this project on behalf of the entire Poser Community, and they deserve a big round of applause!

One quick question - How easy is it to convert the existing clothing to the V4M version?

Exactly the same as converting clothing to the Antonia WM version.

About 5 steps.

If you need those instructions, let me know.

You can use Cage's script on clothing but the results have been very varied.  The team is working on a script however to convert existing clothing for V4-WM.  I believe they did something similar with AntoniaWM.  The pack also comes with a clothing set so you can have her in some clothing from the get go :)

Tiny correction: WM clothing is available, but as a separate download. Since most people already have tons for V4, Glitterati3D has provided this lovely outfit as a courtesy and option - but you aren't required to download it. She thoughtfully considered the plight of people on dial-up... there's still a lot out there!

Same for the skin shader and textures: none of this is required.

Thanks, Robyn.  For stating it so well.

Yeah, I spent some time on bandwith limited internet.  I just can't force someone to spend valuable bandwidth on something they may not want by packaging it with something they DO want.

So, it's there for everyone, but not forced on you because you want to use V4~WM.

Here's part of it:

lkendall ( ) posted Tue, 24 January 2012 at 7:20 PM

In order to provide the maximum possible compatibility with existing morphs, the vertex order of the V4 mesh could not be altered. But, this mesh was not designed for weight-mapping. To achieve extraodinary bending, the figure had to be re-rigged, and needed helper bones. The weight-maps are not a simple conversion, but are hand sculpted by Diogenes/Phantom3D. V4~WM is impressively reworked.

Cage has creatively provided a way to make the distribution of the rigging and weight-maps possible, and simple enough for the average user to do. The beta testers have put in a lot of time to facilitate this work. When people download V4~WM, the Crew's attention to every detail of packaging the files, and the instructions will be evident.

V4~WM is as P9/PP2012 compliant as possible, and her improved function has not been compromised by trying to make her compatible with other applications. She is a hint of what can finally be accomplished with figures that are actually designed (mesh, rig, weight/bulge-maps, morphs, shaders and content) to use the full set of features in Poser. V4~WM is amazing.

V4-WM is Coming!??

Considering the WM is to cortort Vicky into extreme positions, I think V4-WM is Cumming would be a more suitable title.

No, I'm no prude, and appreciate the erotic side of Poser like many do. But let's face it guys.... (don't ban me Rendo, please LOL)

A very simplistic view IMO.  Like kendall described so well above, V4WM is about making the most of what Poser 9/PPro2012 have to offer.  If you'd only use V4 to render pictures of women who raise their arms, you'd gain a lot by using V4WM.  You don't need to be a 'perv' about it, really.

I think it's ironic to note that independant developers can solve an issue that a certain company(s) is not or willing to trying and solve.

I am not committing to saying this is towards one company nor is it meant towards more than one company, just a simple statement of fact that the private market is solving an issue that is wanted by demand.

hooray for quality developers and the tools within said programs that allow us to do this! 😄

Yes and they'll have the extra helper bones as well.  So if you have her in a shirt and lift her arms, her breasts will move as well, automatically.

I have tried to follow some of the threads talking about the process, and i find it very confusing, and well beyond my skill level to understand. I am curious though, has there been any mention if M4 will be done at some point as well?

I don't think there are any immediate plans at Poser Place to convert M4, although I do think it might make sense to do so.  I'll ask and see what may or may not be going on, with that.

Cage can be an opinionated jerk who posts without thinking.  He apologizes for this.  He's honestly not trying to be a turkeyhead.

Cage had some freebies, compatible with Poser 11 and below.  His Python scripts were saved at archive.org, along with the rest of the Morphography site, where they were hosted.
