Oh, I know... they bought out Smith Micro and they're now selling DAZ Poser Studio Pro 2012 Genesis blah wibble bollocks.
Just to get in under the wire, I neither like nor dislike DAZ. I've bought a lot of stuff from them over the years and by and large, like what I bought there. There are several vendors I admire and respect who sell stuff at DAZ.
Would be nice if the thread did stay polite and unlocked. I can dream. :)

Guess #4,067: They bought the rights to the work done by Phantom3D and the folks at Poser Place and will release an "official" weight-mapped V4 ... and call it V6. Free to owners of V5 / Genesis, $1.99 to Plat Club members, $19.99 to everyone else. But there's a 30-day grace period for free downloads.

Seriously, my guess is that they will announce Daz Studio 5 with features they think will knock the 3D world on its ear.
Maybe it bundles the best features of all their apps into one, and they'll call it Daz Bryce Carerra Hexagon Studio Pro. OK, this last part isn't serious. :)
Anyway, declaring in advance it will change the game and shake the industry sorta makes it difficult to meet expectations.
Anyone want to take bets how many posts we get here before the fight starts?

Ah... "game-changing." I get it. But I don't think that would be earth-shaking either for gamers or for the people they're announcing it to... 3D artists.
Maybe they've discovered the magic universal secret that makes Genesis work in all the major 3D apps. and will be selling versions of Genesis for those apps... No DS4 required. That might fit someone's definition of game-changing and industry-shaking.

Wow 2.5 hours of a Daz thread and no serious fight yet. Is that a rendo record? Maybe rather than buying poser they were bought out by smith micro who will now fix all the problems, including adding public dynamic clothing and making genisis poser compatible.

EARTH SHAKING NEWS the new suit at the top at DAZ wants more of your money and all he's got to offer is more disengenuous double talk about how the money people paid for content got spent buying conflicting (at the programming level) software titles and writing one that we got told wouldn't happen (A version of DAZ Studio that wasn't Poser compatible) So now We need to spend more for the TEAM

Game-changing, and industry-shaking suggests something beyond Poser. The cloud thing would probably qualify. Depends on how broadly they define ;industry'
Some major partnership e.g.with AutoDesk.
Some amazing new 'universal' 3D figure or material format.
They bought Megaupload at a government auction.
Any way, I'm guessing it's not new software per se or a figure, more likely a business deal or some internet related infrastructure thing.

Steph 3 is pregnant and nobody is sure who the father is. It's not David cause he's gay and it can't be Mike 3 or 4 because Vicky 4 won't let them have their willies back. Steph 1 is jealous cause she had the hots for Steph 3 since Dina turned her down. Everyone hopes it's not Mike 2 cause the kids will all look like Dan Farr.
Hiro broke up with Aiko and was last seen with his hand down The Girl's blouse, the Mill Kids have all started sniffing glue, apart from Luke who ran off to join the circus, Vicky 5 is really pissed since she found she's a clone of Genesis who has a gender crisis anyway and wants to make babies (somehow) with the Millennium Morphing Cube.
The Millennium Cat ate the House Mouse and the Dog keeps weeing everywhere, the Dragons won't stop crapping on the carpet and all the other animals have locked themselves in the boardroom and won't come out until they get new UV Maps and textures. The Gorilla says he wants a bunch of new morphs and can he have Mike 3's willy, please, since he hasn't one of his own and even if he did it would be really tiny.
The Dinosaurs have rampaged around the parking lot and now everyone has to walk home, Emotiguy ran out of Prozac yesterday and now he's on the roof with an assault rifle. DBot tried to talk him down but got a cap in his butt.
Basically, just another day at DAZ.

You left out Ryan and the previous Poser-native dudes. If I recall correctly, they had better-functioning, uh, equipment than any of the Michaels. And then there's always Andy. The girls like him because he's a robot and is programmed to work for their happiness, not his own..
Good one! I had a Cajun friend several years ago who enjoyed the "game of insults."
His favorite was "Eric, is that your face-or did your neck throw up?" He had dozens of these-he also had a distinctive accent-and unique mannerisms- my response was to develop a spot on imitation of him-and feed it back to him. He surrendered!

"DAZ will make a MAJOR Announcement next week. Without a doubt, this will be the single most important, game-changing, and industry-shaking announcement of the last several years. Stay tuned for this exciting news release from our new CEO, James Thornton"
In less than 2 days Daz forum members have filled about 20 pages trying to guess what this could be. A good number are uneasy.
For Daz to announce that there will be an announcement, and to say it will be "game-changing" and the biggest news in years (thus bigger than Genesis) ... well, the mind boggles.
Or it could be huge hyperbole.
