Welcome to the Poser Technical Forum.
Where computer nerds can Pull out their slide rules and not get laughed at. Pocket protectors are not required. ;-)
This is the place you come to ask questions and share new ideas about using the internal file structure of Poser to push the program past it's normal limits.
New users are encouraged to read the FAQ sections here and on the Poser forum before asking questions.
heyas; after you get the centers centered, you can mess with the other jp's and adjust them, as long as you dont move the center. you can open/close the joint X's and move/size the twist bar. you can even turn on/off or move the mat spheres. try tweaking your shoe jp's a bit and see if that fixes it.
It sounds like you know what you're talking about and I am highly encouraged. What exactly is a jp? joint parameters? Just making sure. One problem is that my pieces parts of my shoes don't show twist bend, etc in the joint editor, just the YScale and the center. They have the xyz rotate on the dials, but only the center and yscale in the joint editor. I don't fully understand what you're referring to when you say "you can open/close the joint X's and move/size the twist bar." It sounds like something I want to do to fix them, but I'm ignorant as to what is what in the joint editor. The manual that comes with poser is not very informative. (I was very frustrated with the chapters about heirarchy, especially.) BTW, these shoes are for vicki and I hear she's a bit of an extra pain to conform to. Thanks for the info so far. :o) Can you help me a bit more? I'm slow with the technical side of poser. I only do it cause I have to in order to achieve the ends I desire.
errrr.... jp's, the joint parameters. if you've never messed with them, check out clint's tutorial, over on the character creators forum. the joint editor doesnt have the rotation stuff??? i've never seen that happen :/ the bend parameters disappear when you turn on 'curve' for a part, but the twist never disappears. if you have ik turned on, try turning it off and see if they appear. other than that, all i can do is give you my quickie, five minute jp explanation: bend X: everything between the green arms DOES move. everything between the red arms does NOT. between the red and green arms is the blend zone. twist bar: everything past the green end DOES move. every thing past the red end does NOT. between the ends is the blend zone. mat spheres: everything inside the green sphere DOES move. everything outside the red sphere does NOT, unless it is also in the green sphere. between red and green is the blend zone.
Now that's what I call simple and understandable explanations. I will see if I can get my twist and stuff to appear somehow so I can try that. I don't understand why they aren't there. I'm notorious for finding odd bugs in programs by accident. That's why I've served as a beta tester a number of times. Sometimes, not very often, ignorance can be useful. In this case, though, it's the opposite of useful. Thanks so much for helping to clear things up.
