Subject: Problem encountered exporting FBX from DS4

jaguarmma ( ) posted Mon, 20 February 2012 at 4:32 PM · edited Mon, 25 November 2024 at 5:27 AM

I exported everything in a FBX format.

When I opened my scene in 3ds max 2011 in the orthographic views my character was visible (wire mesh).

In the perspective viewport my character appeared black.

Black FBX Scene

I got rid of all the stuff I did not need (extra cameras, and the ground)

Still got the same image

Black FBX Scene 2

I even adjusted the lights and directed them onto my character.

Black FBX Scene 3

I got mad and began to delete everything starting with the lights moving my way down and magic happened.

Correct FBX Look

So if you experienced this issue before and were stuck I guess this should help you.

My next question is how do I get this into Unity or UDK via FBX?

dazstudio and carrara s$cks about animation.

that's why i stop use them and now play with blender wich is good in animation.

Animations play the same as they do in DS4 while in 3DS Max 2011 64-Bit.

As I mentioned when it comes to playing the animations in udk the animation is a little off.

As far as materials/textures go I will have to find the issue myslef..

I wont be rude though I will share how to succesfully get working animated/textured assets from DS4 into UDK....

Be on the look out =)
