I am new to Renderosity and have a question about Victoria 4. Is this a model figure in Poser or is this something that can be purchased seperately?

Teyon ( ) posted Fri, 16 March 2012 at 10:36 AM

You would get her from Daz3d.com

If you get V4, I recommend getting the Morphs++ pack as well to avoid latter disappointment. Most, not all, but most characters for V4 require at least Morphs++ to get the same figure shape.

Since the base model is free, you register at DAZ and add V4 to your cart.  Proceed to checkout and she will be ready for download under your account.  The files are installers.

The problem you will encounter is the V4 installers will not recognize PoserPro.exe; you will need to create either a dummy Poser.exe from a text program or use install to DAZStudio as a work around (this latter method does not sit right with me).  The forum already contain several post addressing this problem.

You do know that having a wife is expensive?

Well, V4 is like a mistress.
Only 4 times as expensive. :-)

She will want clothes, and shoes, and different hair every week.
Other boob-jobs every month, different legs in between.

Open your wallet,
Put some glue in it.
Close wallet.
Nail it close to be sure.
Put some srews and bolts in it.
Torque to specified value.
Send it somwhere overseas to never-ever land.

V4 is like a money sponge. Only 4 times worce.

But?

She never says no.
Is never too tired.
Does not need aspirine.

Could go on, but I"ll stay polite.

Actually, to be more specific, WordPad will create a text file as such 'Poser.txt'.  Change the txt extension to exe and place that into your parent destination folder where a runtime folder exists.

Okay... where do I locate "WordPad"? And are you saying that when changing the txt in "Poser.txt" to exe, then it would appear as "Poser.exe" instead of "Poser.txt"? I want to be sure about this... want to get it right.

If you are using Windows, you should find either Notepad or Wordpad programs under Accessories.  Open either program, you will get a new blank page.  Go to File on the taskbar and click save.  Navigate to the desktop and type Poser in the name field.  Hit save.  Close the program.  Select the program you just save on your desktop, right click on the mouse to open the menu and highlight rename.  Select only the extension and change it from txt or doc to exe.  You will get a warning about renaming the file but just click ok and proceed.  The file will change into a Poser icon as if it is an actual execution program.

There is no "Original" poser.exe in Poser Pro 2012 MysticEagle. That's the point of creating a dummy.

nruddock ( ) posted Sat, 17 March 2012 at 3:49 PM

The easiest thing is to copy any other EXE and rename, or select the D|S option when installing (as this avoids the check for the EXE).

If you use the blank text file method, you'll need to have viewing extensions turned on or you won't be able to rename the file correctly (if you don't know how to show extensions, use either of the other methods).

jestmart ( ) posted Sat, 17 March 2012 at 9:36 PM

The whole search for Poser.exe is outdated since you don't want your content in the Porgram Files folders.  You are better off creating a new folder for the DAZ figures and use the DAZ Studio option to point the installer to that folder.  You will then have to add that folder to Poser's library directory.

A_Sunbeam ( ) posted Sun, 18 March 2012 at 4:11 AM

And note too that V4 has an awful lot of sisters (morphs) who are clamouring for you to buy them ...

Okay... in creating a new folder for the DAZ figures and using the DAZ Studio option to point the installer to that folder, where is the DAZ Studio option, in DAZ Studio or in Poser???  Also, how would you go about adding that new folder to Poser's library directory? Except that you will include all the DAZStudio files installed on your HD.  Not a practical solution if you do not intend to install DAZStudio at all.  A waste of disk space.

The options are in your installer; you need to create your folder at a convenient location for easy access.

But, I think before you proceed with this installation, what OS are you using and how is PP2012 installed on your machine?  Did you use default settings, where is your primary runtime located, etc?  As much practical information you can give.  ATM, we are giving advice without important information which you neglected to provide.  We can guide you better with this info and avoid headaches later when you attempt use the app.

If you are using V4 (or any DAZ Generation 4 figure) in an external runtime, make sure that the Library Search in Poser's General Preferences is set to 'Deep' (it may be set to Deep by default in PP2012)...

The Morphs++ package has been mentioned but some of the morph packages can be a pain to track down in the DAZ store now. So, here's a list of the basic items that you may wish to collect up, along with the new product numbers (DAZ changed their product numbering a while back). These should give you much of what you will need to create any number of characters. You should also check out Blackhearted's store here, as well as Posermatic's store and and at DAZ, and I also use JoeQuick's face morphs for V4 and M4 (sold here). I'll leave you to search for hair and clothes.

Victoria 4.2 Base 4783

Victoria 4.2 Muscle Morphs 3940

Victoria 4.2 Morphs ++ 4787

Stephanie 4 Elite Base 9357

V4 Elite Body Shapes 7403 (included in the V4 Elite Bundle 7417)

Aiko 4 Base 5980

She Freak V4 9499

The GIRL 4 Base 8390

V4 Elite: Reby Sky 10304

And should you want her to have a male partner:

Michael 4 Base 7877

Michael 4 Morphs++ 7878

M4 Elite Body Shapes 9300 (included in the M4 Elite Bundle 9675)

Michael 4 Muscle Morphs 9579

The Freak 4 Base 8436

Hiro 4 Base 8070

Finally, for non-human characters:

Victoria 4.2 Creature Creator Morphs 5280

Victoria 4.2 Creature Creator Add Ons 5281

Michael 4 Creature Creator Morphs 8653

Michael 4 Creature Creator Add Ons 9612

V4/M4 Creature Creator Bundle (with all of the above) 9611

If you're thinking "money pit", then you're spot on. Of course, a lot of us have been collecting the add-ons since the figure's release and had the advantage that some of these sets were free until DAZ had a change of policy.

Choosing the DAZ Studio instead of Poser option in the installer does not change what is installed.  It simply skips the Poser.exe search and gives the user the option to point to any folder they want.  The reason I strongly suggest having the DAZ Gen4 figures in their own folder is their morhs and add ons need to be installed to the same folder the figures are in.  Once the morphs are installed they have to be initialized, some times they may even need to re-initialized.  Having everthing for them in one folder can make it easier to find the initialization .bat file.

Initialization occurs at the end of the installation, it prompts you to initialize.  You should have an update icon on your desktop.  I would recommend running that and running it every time you install a new morph pack.

name a folder as Poser_V4 or something and then when you run the daz installers, choose that folder as your install folder, then from within poser go to the little folder with the plus sign above your libraries list and click add and navigate to that Poser_V4 folder.

Okay, in this post you claimed to already have created a folder.  You are not explaining yourself thoroughly so we may accurately address your problems and concerns.  I really recommend that you take the moment to list, stepwise, your workflow for installing V4.  If you omit details, we are going to assume, incorrectly, that you are doing things properly.  Most of us have been down this road and can help tremendously, but the lack of information will royally screw up your installation.

Don't want to be mean here, but we do need better details before we can proceed.
