Subject: Duplicate object in DS4

Misangelic ( ) posted Wed, 16 May 2012 at 10:37 PM · edited Thu, 28 November 2024 at 6:58 PM

Is it possible to create a duplicate object/group of objects without having to create them one by one using the content library. Just hoping to remove the tedium from the task.

Thanks :)

Not in DS4.0 (although you can save a scene with multiple objects or with a character complete with hair and clothes), but DS4.5 does have instancing.

Hey Misangelic,

You can create a preload scene in a number of ways. which is probably the easiest way.

Just load everything you want to duplicate into a scene.

Make sure you only have the things you want duplicated in the scene.

Then save as a scene file.

Then you can add the group by merging the saved scene file into your open scene where you want the duplicate.

This should work for most things.

This will make life easier.

Thanks for the replys, guys.

I only have the free version of Daz Studio 4 Pro, and I'm guessing updates (understandably) aren't available for it, so I guess I'm going to have to go the long way round.

No, the free version is also eligible for updates.  DS4.5 is not yet available -- there's a release candidate which was just made available today, but you cannot revert to 4.0.3.47 after installing 4.5, so I wouldn't install it if you have any current projects.

Really? Wow, that's pretty freakin' sweet! I'll wait for the official release though. Will it be a simple install-over-the-top-of-present-version process, or will I have to uninstall 4.0 and then install 4.5?

When you install 4.5 it will uninstall 4.0

I need some serious help here.  Will 4.5 fix my ""DUPLICATE FILES" problem.  I cannot use M5  nor any new stuff I was told to uninstall some stuff but I do not have any uninstallers  will I have to re-format the puter to clean up this mess??

If you still have the old installer for the Genesis Evolution Expressions, run the installer again to create the uninstaller.  If not, you need to delete the folder:  ...My LibrarydataDAZ 3DGenesisBaseMorphsDAZ 3DExpressions

Then reset your downloads for the following:

Evolution Body morphs (v1.3)

Evolution Head morphs (v1.4)

Anubis (v1.7)

V4&M4 Shapes for Genesis (v1.2)

Stephanie 4 Shape for Genesis (v1.2)

The instancing in 4.5 is working.

100 instances of Genesis were created instantly but it then slowed the program to a crawl!

I added some hair afterward but it didn't propagate, I wonder if I disconnect the instances and reconnect them it will force an update?

Great! I installed 4.5 a few days ago but I have yet to figure out how to do the 'instancing'.

How do you do it?

prixat ( ) posted Mon, 21 May 2012 at 9:37 AM

Its as simple as having your object selected then going to Create/Node Instances.

In the dialog box that pops up, just type a number. 🆒

That is pretty cool!   I wonder how it would handle one of the lower res models?  Something like V3 Low Resolution?

Using diseminator on the model to be multiplied may help?

That is very cool and not unusual to bring it to a crawl, that is a lot of geometry, LOL.

I hope this works on props/objs also, will save me a ton of time.
