When building an animation for the DAZ Millenium Subdragon in Poser and trying to save such animation as a PZ2 for distribution once you apply the PZ2 the dragon's feet and arms deform and fly away.  Does anyone knows if it exists a phyton script to fix that?

I'm not as familiar with this figure .. but have you checked for IK ? that tends to make feet come off

Thank you Lyrra.  I thought at first it had to do with it too but the subdragon doesn't have IK in Poser, its grayed out.

It looks to me like the paws of the creature have been translated some how. Normally this is caused by saving a pose whilst IK is turned on. You say the figure has no IK, so I guess there must be another reason for the translations having a none zero value.

The only thing I can think to suggest is that you edit the pose file to set any translation channels from the offending parts to zero. You can use the free CR2Builder, or CR2Editor, or one of the commercial editors such as PhilC's PZ3editor, or D3D's Poser file Editor, or even a text editor at a pinch.

This is something to try. Thank you, lesbentley.

The attached image shows the bit you need to change, as it appears in CR2Builder. The 'keys' section of each channel contains two values (separated by a space). The first value is the frame number (used in animations), and the second value is the parameter value. It is the parameter value that you need to change to zero. You need to do this for each translation channel in the part that is causing the problem, in your case this will probably be the "hands" and "feet", or whatever they are called in the Subdragon.

Normally all the translations in all parts of the pose, except the sub-root actor (usually "hip"), should be zero. If any part (except the sub-root) has a none zero value, it will cause the sort of stretching shown in your image.

Thank you so much for the through explanation.  I was about to give up on Poser compatibility for this product but with this I'll try to see if I can squeeze the time to do this to each file since its A LOT of frames.  16 PZ2 motions in total.  I wish there was a script I could use to automate this.  Thanks again for taking the time to explain this.

go find a program called EditTabLite

then open all your files. all poser files are text files at their heart so any simple text editor can read and edit them

If you are lucky its the same number so you can do a search and replace on all instances in all files in one operation

If its several numbers you may have to manually edit each one, but the search will make it easier to get there.

I use NoteTabLite to edit mass loads of pz2's and suchlike if I for example have to change a texturefile name, and then all the MAT files that refer to it.

I use EditPad Lite which should be the same.  Thanks again Lyrra.

Sorry sort of hijacking this thread, but...

Does anyone know the correct way to smooth out the sub division on the subdragon in poserpro 2012??? I have both LE and Full versions of him.

I have tried to smooth the polygons and to reduce the crease angle and the sub division issue is still so apparent. Has anyone found a good tut or resolution to this issue?

Did you try increasing the crease angle on the beast?  I use 170 for Genesis...

Use Snarly's Scenefixer script to smooth figures or props.

YES, UPWARDS is the way to go to smooth more.

I use crease angle of 180° on all figures and or props I want smoothed.

And I did not buy one from the bookstore. If you are reffering to the PDF, gads I have a real issue being able to see those... bad vision and it is glitchy on Win7 for me. I have never fell, in love with Win7...

But your help is appreciated! :)

Yes, I was referring to the pdf manual. :-)

Open the pdf an do a search on smoothing or crease angle .
all relevant infomation should surface.

Page 403, and 407 till 411 come to mind. There are some examples too.

Happy Posering.

I was wondering, do you know how to convert the crease angle into a little python script to save the angle to all parts? Or does Snarly's Scene fixer do this? I found it has to be done to every single part, and that is very time consuming. Really takes a long time!

I downloaded the scene fixer two times, but it keeps installing outside of the Python structure, and I do not know where each seperate file belongs in able to correctly fix this issue. Is it possible for you to help me with that? If so and it is extensive, or has SS's, I can send you my e-mail through site mail here...

Thank you!!!

Online Now!

Scenefixer is just one file and you can place it in it's own folder within the scriptmenu of the Python folder.  That way it will be available from the taskbar above.

It will not do subdivisions.

I will go redownload it and send you a SS of what it does when it installs... Maybe it is some weird glitch from windows? o0
