I was napping tonight after a rough day at work, and it just came to me. I remembered the remap that Jaager did of the original Victoria figure. I've been having an unbelievable time getting lips to fit on my Victoria maps. And when I work with Victoria now, it's the P4 version. So I got up and loaded her up into UVMapper and away I went. Now, big THANK YOU to Jaager, I've got lips and nipples that will fit Victoria and will save me several layers on both the head and body maps. Tell me what you all think? I'm making different lip shades too.... Liz Pope Dreamspinner Inc. Head texture by Xurge Body Texture is Eowyn's rework of Staal

Wow! Liz...that looks great! If it will save my some layers...I am all for it!

Thank you for the acknowledgement. I thought of this one also. I did it not long after V2 came out. It actually took longer to do than the original Millie, because not only was there an enlargement, but it also had to overlap the one I did for Millie. The textures are interchangable. It has been avaialble as a perk for MillieJCM and Saluda customers. But I do not know if anyone has downloaded it, or is using it. The only feedback was from someone who could not get it to unpack and decode. I have written it off as a wasted effort.

Online Now!

Jaager, I purchased MillieJCM. Where would I get this remapped version you mention? Cheers Ian

jnmoore ( ) posted Sun, 26 August 2001 at 9:01 AM

Jaager, I too purchased MillieJCM -- how did I miss this remapped version you mention? Jim Moore

Jaager ( ) posted Sun, 26 August 2001 at 12:21 PM

I have sent every purchaser an e-mail , usually not long after they made the purchase. I don't remember exactly when the initial message went out - first week in June I think, but both of you, Ian, Jim, should have been in that group. Some of the iniatal messages bounced back so I did an IM here. I just did an IM to each of you. I guess if the update message has been falling into a black hole and not getting thru, that would explain the lack of feedback.

I'm sorry Jaager, I was unaware that you'd done this already. I didn't think to try to make it match the remap you'd already done, I'm afraid mine doesn't. I blew the mouth and nipples up really large on the map I made. Did you do the JCM morphs for the P4 version of V2 also or just on the V2. On your initial JCM morphs for P4Male and P4Fem, I've transfered those to several of my own personal characters. If you've done it with the P4 version of V2 then I'm interested because she gives me access to the large library of conforming clothing I have for P4Fem. I'll go check your store (hoping you've done JCM for Mike too). Liz

Jaager ( ) posted Sun, 26 August 2001 at 4:00 PM

Liz, There is certainly nothing to apologize for. I do not own the idea. And, I did not make my version public, anyway. If, you make your version public and you use UVS instead of PCF encoding, you are looking at about a 1 meg zip when a couple of textures are thrown in. The cost for you to do it depends on how generous your ISP is. You would then probably want to supplement this with additional textures. This is additional work and even more files. It depends on how much effort you want to put into it. My guys have a choice from a library of over sixty textures for each of the two materials which should cover most needs. JCM? No, I only have done Vicki. The JCM are mostly important for figures that are semi-nude at least. V2P4 is about clothing. So I did not see much need. Which JCM do you think important? I have not done anything with P4male or P4Fem, I did not know anyone had. I do not recall doing any morphs for either character. I did do some tongue morphs repairs for P4Fem, but it was as NYW I think. I started on Mike, but have not looked at it in many months. He is so muscular that I got hung up trying to get him off the Dianobol. With Vicki, I just had a major breakthru that allows for a one click fix of the gravity-antigravity problem with certain poses. This at least will save me from having to do a lot of tedious and, as far as I can tell, pointless explanation. If you noticed the two threads about Vicki's hand deformity, you would see that out of a series of exchanges with Jim Burton, a perminent fix evolved. Nothing even close to this has occured with JCM. Left to my own devices, I just mimic by old Bassets and follow random scent trails.

Dreamspinner ( ) posted Sun, 26 August 2001 at 4:48 PM

Well I already exported the uvs and stripped out a lot of morphs from the cr2 including the V2 morph. I just downloaded the redistributable cr2 for V2P4, I should probably do that one instead and link it to the new object people will get by applying the uvs. I'm still in the learning processes of all this. It does make a smaller zip to export uvs instead of pcf the obj. I had thought you did the JCM versions of P4Fem and Male, but maybe it was someone else. I have the files, I have them loaded. I just now don't know who made them. Before the P4 Version of Victoria came out, I mostly did nudes because her clothing was limited and not reliable (the ankle boots would ball up in a wad when I went to pose). Yes, the P4 version is about clothing and I'm glad I got her. When I work with Victoria now it's only the P4 version. Liz

Jaager ( ) posted Sun, 26 August 2001 at 7:10 PM

I think you are misunderstanding the JCM part. Millie is the remapped version of Victoria. The PCF encoded version is about 2 meg zipped. But it is the full deal. The UVS encoded version is about 0.7 meg zipped, However - as I found out after I did it, UVS does not allow for new materials and Millie has a new material. The V2P4 version does not, it is not the version to use if the new material is involved anyway. The JCM is Joint controlled morphs. Point the toe and the calf flexes, bend the forearm and the biceps flex, lift the arm and the breast rises, etc. The joint works the morph. This sort of morph would not be very rewarding to do with the P4 figures, because the mesh density is too low to allow for much detail.

Dreamspinner ( ) posted Sun, 26 August 2001 at 7:20 PM

Yeah, I understand the basic mechanics of the morph and I like the idea. Someone did do it for P4 Male and Fem. I looked it up. Michael Gibbons of www.3Ddude.com is the name in the readme file which explains how JCM works and points to a tutorial on how to make your own JCM morphs if you like. What new material region did you make for Victoria. And by the way, how do you create new material regions. Do you use the Grouping Tool in Poser? Liz

Oh and, I made fuscia and purple lips. A girl doesn't wear the same lipstick all the time! Ha! Liz

nikitacreed ( ) posted Sun, 26 August 2001 at 7:54 PM

I just have to say....Liz sent me this re-mapped V2P4....and I am loving it. I am already working on some texture maps for it. My biggest annoyance with making skin maps was always having to render...and fix...and render again....and fix again...problems with the lips and nipple sections stretching and bleeding. This re-map fixed it right up! Thanks again Liz!(me a happy camper! LOL!)

Bia ( ) posted Sun, 26 August 2001 at 8:31 PM

okay, I am confused...is this remapped V2P4 available somewhere or not?

Dreamspinner ( ) posted Sun, 26 August 2001 at 10:26 PM

Bia, consider this in Beta right now with Nikitacreed. I'd like to make available. That is once I figure out how to get into the server where my downloads are. But yes, I DO want to make this available. Liz

Jaager ( ) posted Mon, 27 August 2001 at 12:21 AM

New material? It is in the hip area..? Not something relevant to V2P4, since this figure is about clothing..? It is tricky to do. I use UVMapper and a text editor. It is not a one step process. It requires that you be familiar with text editing an OBJ file. The only thing I use the grouping tool for, is selectively reversing normals - provided I can define the problem area as a group. Sometimes RDS does not play nice with normals. MillieP4, my version, is available to MillieJCM and Saluda customers, but I have not contacted the August Saluda yet. All MillieJCM should be current.

Steve Cox ( ) posted Wed, 05 September 2001 at 12:03 PM

The latest version of UVMapper for Windows (0.25e) does handle updating materials/groups/regions with UVs files. Just check the appropriate box when importing a .uvs file. I haven't had the chance to update the Mac version yet, but hope to get around to it before too long. HTH, Steve

Steve Cox ( ) posted Wed, 05 September 2001 at 12:06 PM

Oops, that should be "check the appropriate box when exporting. Sorry 'bout that, Steve

Dreamspinner ( ) posted Wed, 05 September 2001 at 2:49 PM

Thanks Steve! Also thanks Jaager! As I told yah, I'll use both your remap and mine. I've got them loaded up. Sorry I hadn't answered before now, my family life has been hell. At the end of May my father had two strokes and is in a rehab center and my mother is falling quickly to alzheimers. Everyday seems to have some sort of crisis either with my parents or about the household finances. Poser work is now keeping me sane inbetween. Steve, a question about UVMapper. Do you think in another update you could make a function so you can zoom in on a certain part of the map that you're working on? Or is that already in there and I just don't know where it is? Liz Pope Dreamspinner Inc.

Steve Cox ( ) posted Wed, 05 September 2001 at 3:00 PM

Hi Liz - There is sort of a work around for the current version... Press control+A to select all, then press the keypad '*' key once or twice (you can also press shift-plus on the keypad for finer resolution.) Then left click and drag the selection (entire map) around until you see what you want to edit and press enter. You can now work on the "zoomed" area. To restore the map, press control+A again, followed by '=' to fit the map to the screen. I also press keypad-minus about 8 times to move the map away from the edge, and press enter. It's not pretty, but it works =) For UVMapper Pro, I've written a true zoom feature that's much easier to work with. Please let me know if you have any questions. Also, I'm sorry to hear about your parents - I wish all of you the best, Steve

Dreamspinner ( ) posted Wed, 05 September 2001 at 3:01 PM

That sounds really complicated. I've never been wild about keyboard short cuts. I guess I'll have to look into the UVMapper Pro sometime soon. Today is another of those little crisises, but in a different way. I've cought a horrible cold and I'm home from work. There's a bad bug going around. Liz
