Subject: What does Stephanie give you that Vickie can't?

I've never quite understood the benefit of Stephanie when you have all these morphs for Vickie. So what can I do with Stephanie that I can't do with Vickie?

There are distinct additions to Stephanie that Victoria does not have.  The shape of her ribs, waist, hips and abdoman for example- they all can be greatly changed and enhanced via Stephanie's morphs.  Not to mention additional musculature changes in her legs and arms, as well as depth changes in her shoulders, lower back and upper thighs.

I use both Stephanie morphs as well as David; there were benefits from having D3's morphs placed into M3 that really gave you a well rounded character when used.  Now with Genesis, it's even more obvious.

The more options, the more unique a character you can make.  I am one that chooses unique and options rather than the greater normalcy, but in the end it is up to the purchaser.

Thanks for the input, DM. Of course a lot of what you mention can be done with V4 morphs.

I guess I'm trying to understand the market niche that Steph fills. I get the feeling that she is younger and more petite than Vickie. Perhaps Steph would be the model to use if you were going for a teen or pre-teen. A replacement for Laura maybe?

No problem.

Though the morphs I'm speaking of aren't in any of the V4's sets.  Particularly with the depth of her lower back, certain waistline/ribcage shapes in particular.

I didn't like the Laura model, so never used her after picking her over- Steph would be a good addition to help replace that ideal: younger, perhaps funky, even teenish looking.  Or the girl next door type.  I know ONE woman that comes close to how tall V4 is supposed to be.  chuckle

And with Daz re releasing the Stephanie 4 shape to their store even better now. :) I found that Stephy really good for the extra morphs that were provided.

The niche is normal sized people. The average human female is around 5'5".  If you put 100 randomly selected women in a large room, less than 10 of them would be V4's height (5'10" using the Poser 5/Daz Studio scale, 6'4" in the Poser 6 scale).  See:

http://www.morphography.uk.vu/scaleobj.html

for more info on figure height.

If all you are doing is images with a single character, it isn't a big deal.  Start putting more people in a scene & it will look odd that everyone is the same height.

In addition, the SP mesh had a number of updates that were never backed into Vicky.  Steph doesn't make a good preteen.  She is past puberty, so one has to do a bit of work to the mesh (hips, breasts, head, etc.)

Hmm, I got her when she first came out (Stephanie 4 Elite for V4), you mean to say they've upgraded her since?  Not sure what you mean by "re-releasing".  Anyone know this?

Meant in that when they released the Stephy4 shape for genesis way back when, it was for a limited time only. Well seems that consumer pressure and so on prompted Daz to put the stephy4 shape back in the store, this could probably be due, to the release of Stephy5.

DAZ has released a Stephanie 5 for Genesis, against my better judgement I bought the Pro Bundle.  It is an ok figure and the bundle does give you some nice characters and outfits at a good discount over buying them separately.  But the new S5 completely lacks a lot of the extra shaping and proportion morphs that S4 had.  Personally I can't wait for the GenX plug-in to get updated so I can transfer S4 and her morphs to Genesis.
