A nice one Abi! Really like it! (now get your pc in gear and render it bigger! ..plz.. ..pretty please?)
Oops, missed this...
The full size render is 1920x1080px, it's been shrunk for the forum. Fullsize here (link should work).

Ah! that's better :)
This is my first use of Reality 2.5 with DAZStudio4.5Pro. I've been using Poser or DS with UberSpots.
Quote - > Quote - Bob, which stockings are those, and could you refresh my memory about Charley's setttings please? TIA.
BTW, nice touch setting that patio in the clouds. That's cool. Is that a Skies of Reality set?
Here are some settings: :)
Callad, thanks very much! Enlightening as well as beautiful.
Now I noticed in the comments on one of your leggy images that you shrink the hose until it's almost inside the skin, then apply mesh smoothing. When I try the same steps, I wind up with all kinds of weird polygons shooting out all over the frame. Do you battle this somehow? If not, then I guess I better try posting my settings and an example to try and get help.

I was getting ready for bed when I saw your question, so a quick answer, everything else will have to wait untill tomorrow :)
Are the legs bend very far? If so this method wont work if the lower leg and upper leg touch eachother. If not: try fiddle with the 'Smoothing Iterations (bring them down).
It also can be that the stocking prop 'isn't right' for mesh smoothing.
You could also try to adjust the leg pose just a tad, then fiddle with the smoothing iterations.
(now a little 'doc tease': Going to the bedroom and slowly will undress, then will put on a slightly see-through nightgown and will slide gracefully into my bed. No daubt I will dream of.. counting sheep! :P )

Quote - Trying to render with Realtiy 2.5 in LuxRender 1.ORc3, after setting up a scene with Genesis Michael 5 Heroic in DAZStudio4.5Pro, the eyes look like "Orphan Annie Eyes," ghostly white. I checked both the Tear and the Cornea in Reality. Each is Glass and there are no other textures or transmaps or anything in them. Each is checked as Architectural (glass). I even tried going back into DS and turning off anything in the Cornea like Bump, Opacity, etc. Didn't make any difference. Finally, I tried turning the Cornea to "Null" in Reality. That doesn't make any difference either.
This is my first use of Reality 2.5 with DAZStudio4.5Pro. I've been using Poser or DS with UberSpots.
It might be 'Thin film' settings for the cornea are too high.
Edit:- No, it can not be that if you tried null.
I suppose you've tried rebooting the machine?
Quote - Well Callad was the original ;)
Why do I find that hard to believe? the amount of "encouragement" it took for her to read 50 shades seems to contradict that thought.

Woohoo!!! We need more of these kinds of details around here. ;-)
And btw, no, I'm having the problems with V4 and V5 just in the defalut pose. But thank you for the suggestions. I'll try and give them a try later today.

Quote - I had trouble with eyes for the longest time when I started out. It looks like you may have removed some of the other maps
Nope! I've double-checked that. All of the maps for the iris, pupil, tear, sclera, etc., are there. No maps were removed. I haven't found the answer, but that's not it.
Well, I may have to live with DAZStudio renders, or just stick with Poser, which does give better renders than DS.
Quote - Well, the top dog is usually away during summer hunting bears .....
Well! All the bears went to bear heaven, except for my buddy across the creek. That's one bear that would have to force my hand...... LOL
To be honest I spent very little time up at claim this year.. I've been to busy around home catching up with all the things that need TLC.
(That's TLC for the yard and house Doc, not the wife)
Sooooooooo! Now that I have most of the work done, thought I would stop by and see who needs some harassing in here. Any suggestions?
Quote - omg.. i'm hating myself for not keeping an organized runtime and my smart content up to date.. been organizing and making metadata since 6am and still not even 1/4 done.
YEEECCCHHH METADATA!!! I hate it and refuse to touch it. I also run with CMS turned off also. I hope DAZ never makes it not an option, then I'll have to find another app.
Regards, Michael

I use the smart content more than anything now when creating scenes. I love how when you click on the dress that you automatically get all the presets for it. and when you click on the genisis you get all the content designed for genisis such as poses clothes materials and such. soooo much quicker

What about the settings for the iris and sclera? Seems like your iris has the specular color way too bright.

Heads up everybody.
According to the latest code commits from the Lux developers it seem that they are getting ready to released the first official release of Lux, aka version 1.0!

Working on an animation and I can't seem to get m5 Phillip's skin to look good. I adjusted the shader on his ears to passable, but his hands look like crap when they are up close to the camera. Any good ideas?Quote - > Quote - And btw, no, I'm having the problems with V4 and V5 just in the defalut pose. But thank you for the suggestions. I'll try and give them a try later today. Jay
Jay, which stockings do you use? If the 'shooting of polygons' is already there in the default positing I am afraid the prop will not respond well to my tips. If you have another set in your runtime try those :)
Quote - Quick question.. when I am setting the OpenCL workgroup Size what exactly is that doing or using?
It's giving a fix to a bug in the nVidia driver. Normally the driver should be able to set a good default for that internal value but it turns out that it does not happen. It's related to memory allocation at the beginning of the task, if I remember well.

Thanks for answering, Paolo. OK, I'll take a look at the settings for the iris and sclera. Hopefully, I'll find out what the problem is.
Nope. Checked. I don't think that's it. Here's the settings for the iris. The sclera has just about the same thing.

This scene renders just fine in DAZStdio4.5Pro, by the way. There's nothing wrong with the eyes in that app.
Quote - > Quote - Do you have any LIE mats on the figure? Just a wild guess, going by the file name.
LIE mats? Sorry, Doc, I don't know what this means. How do I check for LIE mats?
If you had to ask, then you prob don't have any :) They are layer presets, and need to be specifically applied.
It does have the Mec4D BeardBase, which is available at DAZ3D. When I browse to the file location, though, there is a .dsf file. I don't know if that has any LIE mats or not within it.
Also, what shows up in the Shaping Pane are the kinds of beards and facial hair you can set. I don't know if there's anything that might cover up the eye area of the figure. I did try removing the BeardBase and starting a render in LUX, but that did not make a difference.
medmon.. the speed i'm getting.. if i got my math right.. would take my current render 83 1/2 hours... i'm extremely experienced with and pretty damned good with photoshop.. but there's NO WAY i could get rid of all the noise in this thing w/o seriously ruining the overall quality of the shot.. not even with the most accurate despeckle and hot noise filters currently made.
edit : would take that long to hit 4000 passes.. it's a 1920x1920 shot with a full-width mirror. only pulling between 47k and 50k s/s..

If I remember right, Lux will not render Tiff mats. Check your iris mats and see if they are Tiff files. If they are try using a different set of eye's or load the Tiff's and save them to Jpg and load them in by hand in the surfaces area.
