Subject: Anyone else having inordinate difficulties using the "new and improved" DAZ site

Klebnor ( ) posted Fri, 21 September 2012 at 1:48 PM · edited Thu, 14 November 2024 at 4:57 AM

Content Advisory! This message contains profanity

My sign-on fails two out of three times and I can no longer use the monthly Platinum Club credit.  Since this changed from a voucher it has never worked for me.  I put only one item in my cart, make sure it is DAZ original, clean out cookies ... no go.

Their solution is "submit a ticket".  WTF, now I have to jump through hoops?

They don't seem to have any problem debiting my credit card for the monthly charge.

It all seems to have gone to crap with the new management and site.

Or is it just me?

The coupon does work for most people (most of the time, there was a spell when it was generally broken earlier in the month) so opening a ticket to get sales to see why it is failing to work for you is a necessary step. Coupled with your sign in problems, which I'd mention in your ticket, it does sound as if there may be a glitch in your account somewhere

Richard:

Thanks for the reply.  I am afraid that at my age I am unwilling to provide unpaid beta testing services to a private company which has benefitted greatly from my patronage for 5 years.  The only necessary step I can see at this point is giving up on DAZ, they clearly don't give a r@ts @ss about their customers.

I refuse to pay $7.95 per month and then jump through hoops in order to collect a contractually agreed benefit.  It is not up to me to ensure that the DAZ website works, that is their responsibility.  These are the ethics and practises of a dying enterprise.

Thanks again and regards.

In all fairness, in the past five years I am sure you have benefitted also with what you do have. If it works for many others, then there "might" be a problem on your end and how will DAZ know there is a problem if you don't file a support ticket, or you can just give up and go your merry way. How can they give a rats butt if they don't know there is a problem, it's not like you are the only customer.

Take a quick look at the Members Only forum, Your Platinum Coupon for September thread, and see if they are unaware of the problem.

All the best,

There was a general problem, as far as I know that is fixed. However, there have been individuals with problems all along and if those individuals don't report their problem DAZ has no way to know they need help.

Now having great difficulty accessing the DAZ3D website.  Twice I got sent to some other weird website like Magento.com.

Incredibly slow - likely due to catch up sale.  Apparently you  have to submit a ticket as they don't monitor whether their site is working or not.

Wow, just tried the site - 10 seconds just to open the home page, then 52 seconds to open the page with the PA sale.  A little load balancing problem.

One of my divisions has a direct to consumer web site.  We consider any single page response time over 2 seconds to be a problem.  Talk about lost conversions!

And the site is throwing up magneto errors all over the place. Everytime I get fooled into thinking Daz is a business they do something to remind me this is little more than a hobby to them.

ointment ( ) posted Thu, 27 September 2012 at 5:33 PM

And now I'm getting 404 not found errors. I got them another day this week. Has Daz not been paying its webhost?

FSMCDesigns ( ) posted Thu, 27 September 2012 at 6:02 PM

Yep, slow loading and errors here also, but it's to be expected with every PA on sale. Took longer than expected, but I finally got my items and checked out, guess patience and karma pays off.

Wow, you summed up my impression EXACTLY!

I never put it into those words, but that's exactly the impression I have - that DAZ is run more like a hobby than a business.  It's frickin' amazing how many stupid decisions they've made business-wise, while still cranking out the somewhat-usable new tech in DS.  I've been amazed by how much they've pushed the tech, and floored by how poorly they run their business.  It's like they'd rather tinker around in the lab than release solid products.

Major problems...I cant seem to download anything.  The dowload speed starts off at an appaling 39 to 47 kbs, yes kilo byts, then slowly winds down to 0 and stops, and this also happens with even orders I reset.  They say its not on there end(of course)  so it must be my internet provider.  I quickly informed them I just downloaded a 600+ mb file with no problem. No response from them. All I`m trying to do is dowload the newest version of DAZ 4.5 Pro x 64, and DAZ Pro 4.5 Beta.

oh well

I have had zero problems myself. I've used the voucher every month without issues also.

now I get an error message from Magneto Enterprise??? Say you "There has been an error processing you request." When I try to log on.

beats the hell outta me.

Open notice to DAZ,

At last count I have purchased over 3000 items from DAZ... not your casual customer.

That all ended a couple of years ago.

Because of the new, very messed up web site, I am no longer a customer.

p.s. For all of you DAZ apologist, try to be more than a sop for DAZ (or maybe you are a DAZ empoyee). Shut up and listen to those that are having problems with DAZ, they might actualy fix their problems.

Nice attitude! At least we have something in common, both have over 3000 items purchased at DAZ. While I feel for anyone having issues, I purchase items weekly and have had no issues, so the problem is NOT just with DAZ or everyone would have the problems.

You need to contact them directly with your problems, posting (rude) comments in the forums on another site won't do you any good.

I've been having the Magneto problem all week but thought at last it was resolved.

Purchased an item yesterday, Paypal payment went through but...as window was  flipping back to Daz, Magneto appeared with "There has been an error in processing"
Yes, Ive cleared cache, refreshed and contacted support but yet to receive a reply.

I would really love this prop to finish something and would like to buy a few other items on sale but you never know if the dreaded magneto page will appear, payment will be gone from your account but you won't be able to download.

The lastest newsletter had some great deals, like MDF celebration bundle $4.20...too good to be true, sure enough when you click through to Daz it's $69.70!

Don't get me wrong, I love Daz and have been with them since 2007 but this problem has been around since Jan 2012 and it's still not fixed....so what's gone wrong?

RHaseltine ( ) posted Sun, 23 December 2012 at 6:54 AM

The bundle price sounds as if you weren't logged in, assuming your PC membership is current. The store is very good at losing login status.

Which in itself doesn't create a huge amount of confidence that the rest of the store is working ok

I've let my PC membership lapse so that explains the newsletter but now I have to wait until who knows when for someone to answer my support ticket and be able to download my paid for products.

I was so tempted to buy other things on sale yesterday but with so many great offerings here and other places, sadly, just no confidence with the Daz system.

I want to be confident when I pay for something I'll be able to download it and play with the props over the holidays.

Daz was so amazing, gave so many of us a start in 3D, it's really sad to see these backend problems happening.

kimbersue ( ) posted Sun, 30 December 2012 at 5:08 PM

I've had so much trouble with the site that I don't go there very often. The coupons have too many terms attacted so I closed my membership when it ran out. I got one for $3.00 but it could not be used on DAZ originals.

Since you asked here is my 2 cents worth.  I cancelled the platinum club account last July but it did no good as this week they have charged my credit card twice.  This is absolutely absurd or criminal.  I had no intention of renewing the account and most definately will not now.  I think that this will be the straw that broke the proverbial camel's back.  I did purchase the occasional product but I don't think I will continue to do any business with DAZ after this.  New and improved what a laugh!

RHaseltine ( ) posted Fri, 04 January 2013 at 3:00 PM

Have you opened a support ticket over the two charges?

WandinStar ( ) posted Sat, 05 January 2013 at 12:19 AM

Hi Richard,

Yes sir, I have opened the first 2 days ago and received this reply:

Membership Correction and a Free Month of Platinum Club
Due to an internal error on our part, you were charged twice for this month's Platinum Club Membership renewal. We apologize for this inconvenience and have taken the steps to prevent this from happening again. Because of this oversight we are going to apply the overcharge toward next month's membership renewal AND give you an additional month for FREE!

In addition, we are giving you a coupon good for $10 OFF your next purchase of DAZ Original Products - including Platinum Club items. Enter coupon code: CENSORED BY MYSELF at checkout for the savings to apply.

We value you as a customer and are committed to providing you exceptional service. If instead you would like to request a refund, you may do so by contacting our Sales Team.

Sincerely,

I have already asked for a refund and get that reply from DAZ instead.  I am trying another communication as the last two did no good.

Hi all,

In the interests of fairness, I am posting to update that yesterday DAZ refunded the amounts they removed.  I would have noted this in the thread on the DAZ "commons forum" as well but DAZ closed the thread censoring further discussion there.

Take care.

Daz3d uses a new hosting provider that has moved their servers outside the United States. The forum archives are no longer accessible.

It's definitely slower now for me.

DAZ is using Cloudflare as a caching service, but Cloudflare has servers located all around the world so the location you get should depend on your location. As far as I know the servers that DAZ actually runs are still in the US. The old forum is slow but still available at forumarchive.daz3d.com

klown ( ) posted Fri, 18 January 2013 at 3:06 PM

the old forums were timing out for the past 24 hrs for me on two different ISP's, that appears to have stopped, these servers there appear to reside, oddly enough the geograph absoulte center of the United States, which seems a little odd, but yea, working now.

I noticed cloudflare has offices in San Francisco CA but all the daz sites I have pointed to from my locations point back to Central America

AetherDream ( ) posted Fri, 18 January 2013 at 6:57 PM

Yes and I have submitted tickets. I rarely make purchases there now. I tried to purchase one item. I put it in my cart and then signed in it was no longer in my cart. I have never purchased the item as it was brand new to the store. I kept getting the error that said I was only allowed to purchase one copy and it would  not allow me to add the item to my cart. I submitted a ticket, never heard back, attempted to add it again a few days later and get the same error. WTF. I am trying to spend money with them and I guess they do not want it.

RHaseltine ( ) posted Sat, 19 January 2013 at 9:50 AM

It is getting confused - add a different item to your cart, while logged in, and you should then see both and be able to remove the thing you don't want. This is, unfortunately, a common issue.
