Subject: Transfer utility for gen actor ?

kimbersue ( ) posted Thu, 20 December 2012 at 11:11 AM · edited Thu, 23 January 2025 at 3:33 PM

Hi, I have never been able to get the genesis character transfer utility to work correctly and wanted to ask.  I want to post an example so I can get my question correct.

I have Jazlyn for Genesis Bundle http://www.daz3d.com/shop/people/toon/jazlyn-for-genesis-bundle and I made a shirt for her in marvelous designer and loaded it to Daz Jazlyn for Genesis and the shirt loads correctly but when I use the transfer utility the shirt no longer fits correctly.

I was wondering if you can make clothing for Jazlyn for Genesis or only for genesis base figure then add in morphs later for Jazlyn?

Imported shirt to Jazlyn

After Transfer Utility.

Thanks
Kimberly

All genesis clothing has to fit the base figure. You either have to make the clothing for Genesis and then make the fits for Jazzlyn or make it for Jazzlyn then choose the "Reverse target from source" in the transfer tool (I think that's what it's named) and select the jazzlyn morph from the drop down under the source figure. If you choose the latter, you'll have to clean up the mesh for the base figure.

Thanks, that worked, the shirt needs to fixed up some around the breast but it is close enough to see if it works good enough for me to take time to learn the daz stuff.

Also keep in mind that original mesh you made on jazzlynn can be used for her fit. Just use morph loader pro on the shirt and name the morph similar to the autogenerated morph (using "replace deltas" in one of the options), something like FBMJazzlyn (check the morphs in the shirt for the name) and i think that may replace the morph with your version.

Always built around the base shape & then once you've got that rigged and saved as a figure you can start to reshape your outfit to fit the different Genesis morphs, or you can just use the crap auto generated ones.

Drape on default genesis, Jazzlyn and Julie (make sure the scale is at 100% for both when you export the other figures so you won't have scaling problems). Export all. Now you have the default genesis shape, and the two fits for those characters.

What are people saving daz clothing as now? Last time I did anything there was a big debate about Daz 4.5 new saving options.
