Promo shot for new product. My render times were getting longer and longer, to an unacceptable level as I added more items to the scene. I happened to read something regarding the number of light emmitters and render times. When you import objs they come in with light emmitter checked as the default. I went through and unchecked light emmitter on all furnishings and etc items, leaving it on only on walls, ceilings, floors, neon signs and emmitter panels. It resulted in a huge reduction in render times. This is 1000x1200 ray trace bounces @ 6 all other settings to the max, this took 3.5 hrs to run

They say Absinthe makes the heart grow fonder. I found a store the other day that still sells Absinthe, and I would really like a glass of it from your bar.  looking great

Very impressive.  3.5 hours is not bad for a render with plenty of glass and reflections.

Very nice indeed!

Been about 45 years since I had the pleasure of a dance with the Green Fairy. Thanks for the memories. Your work is most excellent.

Looks stunning.

The boys and the girls are going to break out their roaring 20's or Victorian clothes and props and have a grand ol' time when this becomes available.

That looks amazing.  Sadly, absinthe and I don't get on well at all.  After getting completely and thoroughly bladdered on it and suffering the mother of all hangovers the next day, I decided I'd rather drink gasoline.  :)

Superb looking product and render, though.

chris, notice how refractive shader in current poser version(s) causes contact shadows at bases of glasses.  then look at wine glass on table cloth in room with indirect light.  one won't see that shadow.  check bagginsbill's posts on how to correct this.  he even has wine glass freebie, but I can't use it, as it has wine shader incorporated into the goblet section, rather than wine prop, which would use refractive shader.  ISTR anthanasius has also posted thin glass shader several times here.

I noticed that too, BB has a fix? That is good to know!

Absinthe is back! (BTW, my local wine shop stocks about six brands!)

BTW, the two correct uses of absinthe are as follows:

  1. Absinthe Drip. Put a lump of sugar (or a cube) on an absenth spoon, pour about one oz. of absinthe over it into a glass, then drip a couple of oz of ice water over the sugar until it disolves.

  2. In mixed drinks, but very sparingly. (In terms of drops, dashes, or rinsing the glass.) I'm particularly fond of it in a Corpse Reviver #4.

does absinthe knock one out like they say in old literature?

anyway, just tried rendering (~500X500) frilled lizard's freebie bottle of jack using thin glass shader.  it took 8 hrs., at same render settings that only require 10 - 15 min. to do  ~1400X800 render with multiple instances of thin glass shader on single surfaces.

hence with any luck, things may be better in next version.  also necessary to rethink thin glass shader IMVHO.

found that one of BB's shaders speeds this up quite a bit.  of course, one would consult with him prior to selling it.

Not unless you drink a lot of it. It's usually about 80 proof.

Used to live with the master brewer of Obsello Absinthe (Spain) before he left the US. He's recently returned to the states and has set up a distillery in Salinas, CA (whisky). Anyway, before he left for Spain I used to drink quite a bit of his potables, never really developed a taste for la fée verte and prefer a good beer. You really don't want to go on a bender and throw absinthe in the mix. ;)

That's an awesome render.  I'd love to try absinthe sometime.  It can't be any worse than Korean Soju.  (never... ever... EVER... again)
