Subject: Poser Raaaage ... the Color Picker tool!

Darkworld ( ) posted Thu, 14 March 2013 at 12:41 PM · edited Sun, 02 February 2025 at 12:01 PM

This is admittedly a minor thing, but it's driving me INSANE.

the giant brains at Smith Micro saw fit to make the window for the color picker tool appear ON TOP OF THE THING YOU ARE TRYING TO COLOR.  moving the window or camera is useless, it will HUNT YOU DOWN and appear almost on top of the cursor wherever you dare to click.

So in other words you can't see what you're doing.  Is there any way to MOVE the damn window or force it to popup somewhere else?  I'm using Poser Pro 2012.

... whew... i feel a little better after that rant.

thanks for any tips :)!

I do not have that program, so I am trying to envision the screen.  Are you using the eyedropper thingy?

No it's the little paint bucket.  lets you click on a model/figure and change the diffuse color for the material you clicked, changes in real time so you can see it changing- but the window with the all the color choices COVERS YOUR SELECTION lol...

irritating as hell.

Oh, the paint bucket - I use that a lot in P7, and I can drag the window.  Never figured out how to include that in the preference dots since it is not a static feature, so I have no idea if you can in PP2012.  Might try it though. :)

Darkworld ( ) posted Thu, 14 March 2013 at 1:36 PM

Yeah it can't be dragged :(

Can you change the image resolution (not zoom in the camera, enlarge the object) to where you have enough of the desired surface showing even with the color window?  Then, after doing the paint, just "undo" or reload to the original image resolution.

I doubt you can adjust the size of the color window - never tried in P7 since it was not a bother for me.

I'm not sure you can move that window. And yeah, I agree...annoying as hell.

Just use the OS colour picker instead. It's no big deal. Click on the tri-coloured flag in the top right of the Poser colour picker and it'll switch to the OS version, which can be moved.

What I like about poser picker changes hue as you mouse over.. The OS box needs you to press ok every time
