Who has the "restore to december 2012" button?

The problems with the site lately have been annoying at best, intolerable at worst. I understand where you are coming from vilters...I still can't get the site to do what I want. Search is broken for me....what a pain in the rear end.

Freestuff WTF??????? Do these guys not listen to us? I think a bunch of us have complained about the header and footer of each page being too large and too bright white. And now its in the free stuff section as well. And the marketplace is now so hard to navigate to find anything!!!!!

Thanks for the humorous way you made your feelings known Vitters!

I see the "Browse" bar text as a faint grey against lighter grey- I can see it-but it looks like "greyed out" text. Not the most visible of choices!

JoePublic ( ) posted Thu, 13 June 2013 at 12:05 AM

Firefox 21 here, too. Haven't touched IE in years.

It's very annoying that I have to constantly switch size settings between the forums and the market place/freestuff site.

It worked perfectly last year. :-(

Hey, I second the hitman idea! Guy doesn't look at feedback at all. Can't stand the header and footers, must scroll down quickly because the header is soooo bright it hurts my eyes.

Site Admin Online Now!

I'm on FF and not having any troubles. Perhaps it's one of your browser addons that is messing with stuff. I have seen that happen before. The search works. (of course the site search works for me too) I can read it. I don't have half of the problems you guys seem to have. The only reason I can think of is I have a very small number of addons running.

I think we're lucky, things could be much worse. You know that Renderosity logo at the top left? It displays about 290x70 pixels, but it's actually a 3392x788 png! Maybe there are plans to make the headers bigger, just in case we miss them.

vilters ( ) posted Thu, 13 June 2013 at 8:18 AM

Yeah, and then some wonder why a site loads so slow.

This is not an upgrade but a downgrade.

It shows too;

  • Less treads
  • Less posts
  • Less free stuff

Some have already left, and can be found active in other forums.

Right, so show of hands...how many of YOU have the latest, greatest computer, use IE, and whatever else the site LIKES and nothing else it doesn't?

Yeah, I bet we get lots of people that use everything the site likes ;). Sorry, but when you run a website you have to take into account old and new...just the way it is. Not everyone is running the SAME OS on the SAME kind of machine with the SAME browser.

You may be right vilters. I have a win7 laptop and I'm running Firefox. The search function works fairly well (the marketplace however is an absolute nightmare when it comes to browsing for products). Even the forum is fine for viewing with the major exception of the extra large header and footer sections on each page. I cannot say enough that the bright white color literally hurts my eyes and I have to scroll quickly downward when I go from page to page either in the forum or in the gallery to avoid the white glare. How hard is it to get those headers and footers made SMALLER and maybe a darker color??????? I don't want to leave this site, I like it here and I've been coming here for my Poser fix since 1998.

Which version of MX are you using ?

I've been using MX3 since the early betas and in ultra mode the site changes aren't giving me any problems, mind you the site didn't give me any problems before the changes either. In retro mode it's a different story as it's then based on either IE 6 or 7, instead of the webkit you get in ultra mode.

LaurieA ( ) posted Thu, 13 June 2013 at 6:52 PM

I'm using the latest one 4.xx...and it's in ultra mode. I get Freestuff, Blogs, MP, Tutorials, Articles, Newsletters....and no forum results. At all. And I searched for something I know that would come up - bagginsbill. LOL.

HTML is HTML. The days of the blink tag are (thankfully) dead.

Only three browsers are needed to aim for: FF, IE, Safari. Here's why...

  • Safari and Chrome both use Webkit, so if it renders well on one, it'll 99% likely render well on the other.

  • The deays of 'OMG lookit all those version numbers!' is dying and/or dead. Only IE is still sticking with the discreet version upgrade paradigm these days. Everyone else gets latest/greatest version automatically unless they specifically choose (and set the system) not to.

  • mobile sites should be designed differently and parked on (ferinstance) m.renderosity.com - mobile formats are smaller, require bigger buttons (for the touchscreen) and need to account for both landscape and portrait modes. So yeah, by necessity the UX is gonna be different.

  • Nobody uses Opera anymore - screw 'em.

I don't mind HTML5 and all that, or whatever innovation comes along, but I have browsers that can handle all of those and still I do not get forum search results. It's as if they removed it completely for me. Haven't been able to get any forum search results for months. Right now I'm using a browser that does webkit and I'm still not getting a damn thing.
