I should clarify that the compatibility with existing add-ons will be based on existing utilities and technologies available (such as the cool new Fitting Room in Poser '14) and any others that may come about such as texture convertors, etc.
Sorry if that part came across as suggesting new ways of achieving that. What we're doing it working with artists from the community who are experts in conversion to help us get Dawn setup with all the latest technologies so that she can be as compatible as any other figure out there.
Images are being rendered, we'll share as soon as they're ready.
As for timing, we our packaging our latest release candidate as we speak, but I don't have a specific date to share with you yet, sorry. It is close though.
Thanks for the offer to help with testing. We've doing all we can to get Dawn solid, but an extra pair of eyes never hurts.
Send me an email to steve @ hivewire3d.com if you have time available and would like to take her for a spin. I cannot promise how many peeps I can add in, but there's always room for a more. :)

I'm really looking forward to meeting Dawn and working with a team of such esteemed artists. Your concept is a healing balm in a fractured marketplace. I know you will be successful. Zygote models were the original meshes that seduced me into 3D. A major breakthrough. I'm sure Dawn will be gorgeous!
I, too, would be happy to help with testing and am looking forward to supporting Dawn as a merchant. Looking forward to seeing Dawn's uv's.

Very exciting and encouraging news.
DAZ, not surprisingly, is committed to DAZ Studio. Smith Micro doesn't seem to be all that interested in figure creation. We've had some wonderful things made for us by the community, but I think it's become clear that for a figure to really be widely accepted, it has to be someone's fulltime, paying job to support it. Preferably several someones.
I hope you succeed, because there's been something of a void for us Poser users since Genesis.

Exactly. Free base figure is a great idea, and necessary for wide acceptance, IMO.
But they gotta make money somehow, so I'm assuming that will be off the morphs, textures, clothing, etc. Which is more than fine. Dawn is not going to be a success if her creators don't get paid. Unless they've secretly won the lottery and are choosing this way to give back to humanity. ;-)

Yes, she will work in Studio. There will be a version for both systems, this is what I like, BOTH sides can use her.

To clarify, Eric helped design the user interface and user experience around DAZ Studio 4, but did not create it. That was Taylor Wilson, Jarom Schow, and Rob Whisenant, among others. :)

Hello everyone! I though I would chime in, since Steve is starting introductions.
Paul Lessard aka etujedi, for those that don't know me by name, lol. I got started in the community as a Poser 3 user and later Poser 4 content creator, with my Legendary Griffin figure. I joined the DAZ team in 2007 as a contractor and in 2008 as an employee and member of the DAZ production team. It was here I met Chris, Eric, and Steve, and was fortunate to be involved with the creation of generation 4 and 5 figures.
In February 2012 I rejoined the Published Artist community and got back to my roots. In February 2013, one year later I was approached by Chris to be a contributing artist/ rigger for the new Dawn figure and I'm happy I did. I look forward to helping HiveWire 3D bring you great products regardless of the software you use!

Wonderful news about new figure creation, and will continue watching with great interest. Hope there will also be a male figure. I'll be happy to contribute free pose sets to help promote the figure release.
This reminds me of how things used to be done, the 3D community working together. Go for it!
