I'd really like to take a look on Dawn  before making any promises, but when I'm able to, I usually do clothes and/or morphs.

i just need to ask why the whole genital inclusions in both textureing and figure mesh are being excluded? heck even puritan daz included these bits in their offerings and third party textures everywhere generally also include genital details in the texturing for those thst do need it for their work.

If there will be no such texturing or details in the mesh is there at least going to be enough poly density there made available for third party vendors to create those morphs from existing mesh?

It was mentioned by HiveWire 3D (earlier in this thread) that they will be also catering to the educational market with Dawn and other products, so won't be including those parts, but will be leaving it to 3rd parties for this.

3rd party sites will no doubt get genital options etc. for Dawn.

HiveWire3D have their own reasons for not doing them themselves, but that shouldn't be looked on as whatever people think.

No doubt if HiveWire3D want to make those reasons known they will.

In the end, those that want that product will be able to get it from whatever site sells it.

I have to admit, it bothers me a little if all it is is a 3D Barbie. I RARELY ever render a nude of either sex, but even so...won't feel complete. And I've been to R'Otica a total of twice in 13 years. LOL

My concern is this...while matching nipples to a texture might not be all that difficult, what about gens? It's gonna be a bit of a headache, especially for the males. And what if there's more than one set? Which one are texture artists gonna follow? Sounds like the beginning of a real mess to me ;).

Well what has been on my mind is "how can assets be brought across to Dawn from other figures?"  (rhetorical question)

So I have been fooling around with designing a Pose Adjustment Tool.  It focuses on redistibution of rotations according to proportion, adjustment from orientation at T-Pose and some other things like that.  Right now it works on V4 poses.  So far the results are promising but not without some tweaking.  And by "some" I mean just a little.  It also does not replace making or acquiring new Poses for Dawn because I still would think those would be superior.

I also am doing an HCS for Dawn.  For me, that's a no brainer - I must have it!  Kind of deal.

I also need to join a DS support group if I get into content creation that I can make sure is cross-platform.  Which I imagine as being such a long-term Poser users that's like a group of us standing around and shaking, chain-smoking cigarettes and drinking black coffee.. :P

If they could include a "bulge" morph in "Dusk" then I'll be happy, even if I do have a friend who wants me to do nudes.

They cited educational purposes for the lack of genitalia. This probably means marketing to grade schools  or middle schools (5 to 13 year olds for those in different school systems) and such. While anitomically correct education can have benifits, in the US at least, full frontal nudity for children is still generally frowned on. In addition many schools have computers the kids can use with minimal supervision. (a teacher in the room but not constantly looking over the kids shoulders) Allowing kids to use computers with nude models would certainly be considered inappropriate. Also, the school computers have filter which block sites and programs that are inappropriate and that would make it hard for teachers to access the content on that site.

I don't think it's a case of Digital Barbie (cue Aqua song!!! lol). Those thatwant to render nudes of whatever means, will have that capability, just not from the HiveWire3D team.

I don't do full frontal nudes, except when beta testing to check for seams etc. But....

I wouldn't stop anyone else from doing them.

Gential morphs are a specialised market, to put it nicely, you wouldn't walk into your local newsagents and ask for a vibrator for your partner. You would go to a speciality store. This is just the same as doing that.

I'm not being prudish as my V4 Piixie is known for not wearing a lot, so if those that want the morphs etc. can go to Renderotica (OOOOOH said the naughty word!!! lol) or whereever and get them, good for them.

As to a mimic option...... Please don't, my imagination is bad enough!!!!!! LOL.

As for the future male version, well, time will tell on that.

When it comes down to it, the Dawn and male meshes are like ourselves and we are so much more than just our genitals.

Randy Lloyd has some fabulous videos concerning one of my favorite outfits, the Genesis supersuit.  While much is specific to the suit, there is a ton of information that will help you with DS in general, so even if someone doesn't have the suit, I think they're really valuable tutorials.

A bulge option for the future male shouldn't be a problem as I'm assuming would be for under clothes, so wouldn't need a genital texture. A kind of there to give the impression that there is something there.

In fact it's a good way around that situation.

The children one has been passed on to HiveWire3D, I think a lot of people would like to see a full family, of all ethnic backgrounds made and supported.

HCS = Hair Conversion System, for converting hair from one model to another.

as a grandfather teaching my grandaughters poser, they use V4 in the purple base same with m4 they dress them and pose them then make there character and pose then render, they are making poses now and I work with them so no gen is an excellent option, and yes I know when it comes to art, nudity is concidered art, but there is a time when my girls will be ready for that now is not that time. tho that may be me not as ready as they are, since they learn far more in school than we used too.

on the other hand having the genitals ready for an addon for an art school would be important, so who ever does it as long as the same individual does the texture of both gens and figure it should all match just fine

I am wondering - wouldn't clothes created for the Poser version work with the DS version, too (with a DS texture adjustment needed maybe)?  Or will the clothing HAVE to be completely separate?  I use "Poser" clothes in DS (other than dynamic of course)

Don't need to be reminded the Utah thing is affecting this decision as well as the marketing to kids and schools and despite sounding too liberal about it, I do understand keeping it "plain" for the kids out there as well. The house belongs to the content creators and we the guests must either comply to their rules and decisions and purchase or go elsewhere, that stands without saying. But I have been doing or viewing/collecting erotica since 4th or 5th grade and I have sold and gotten numerous images published in legitimate books and shows. So working with figures with the details incorporated in the mesh and textures is paramount for me. Not everyone is from Utah.  ;)

But my last question was if the mesh density in those areas third party creators would create add-ons for the figure, will be dense enough to do that or is it going to be reduced like Posette or V1 were (V2 was a bit better and it seems to have gone up from there in density). If it isn't in the mesh in the hip/groin area there is nothig that can be created worth much later.

Speaking as a former high school teacher with a classroom that had a computer at every student desk, I can tell you that you are absolutely, 100% corrrect about this, and it applies to High School as well as the lower grades. Parents would freak out if we had that on those computers. It would not fly.

The decision is a personal thing, the only thing Utah has to do with it is creating the climate in which that decision is being made.  But it's their product, their decision, and there isn't any  choice except take what they give us and do what we always have, modify to our own needs.  Chris hasn't said what any objections may be, and he doesn't have to, he has the right to make the decision and that's all she wrote.  None of the daz figures have those included, you have to buy them extra so it ain't no big deal.

There are people that put a lot of time and effort into the "fiddly bits" and most that use the fiddly bits use the addons.  It ain't no big thing. I understand even Antonia has an addon, big deal, I don't use the figures that way to begin with.  If a base figure doesn't have what you want, and it's available somewhere else, that's the answer.

WHether it's for political, religious, or "Elvis came in a dream and said no" makes no difference, it's still the decision of the artist and shouldn't be open to discussion.

Standard T Pose with legs spread apart so there should be enough wiggle room in the crotch area and to handle pants reasonably well.  Around a 10-degree (total) spread compared to legs-together T-posed figures.

Didn't mean to open a can of worms nor ruffle any feathers. I agree with the education thing...shouldn't have genitals or anything like that. Only question the Poser end of it then where ppl expect it. Oh well...just a personal opinion and no malice attached ;).

I probably won't be back to the thread until tomorrow afternoon - the site is so slow for me I can't even take anymore today.

Hope there's not 50 pages of posts. LOL.

The law has no bearing.  and again, the only thing Utah has to do with it is the, oh, hell, religious and political climate that the people live in.  It's still their belief, if that's what it is, and not open to question.  Just consider the climate and accept what comes from it.  I'm from Wisconsin and we have our own "things" many of which I disagree with, but it's still where I'm from and basically, what I am.  I ain't no "Hey dere!"  I'm a "Ya, Hey!"  And sorry, but you'd have to live here to really understand that. 

I don't know that those are what influenced the decision or if it has some other, more commercial benefit, and it doesn't matter.   I would tend to lean toward it being more of a personal decision for whatever reasons and we don't have to know those reasons.

The decision was made, anything further about it is just whining.  Just keep in mind that Wisconsin is one of the heaviest drinking states in the nation, probably number one, and I have never regretted my decision at age twelve not to drink.  I was right, the rest of the state is wrong, although I do hear about it frequently.  I let you draw the parallel or contrast here.
